Calculations of steam condensers
Mifek, Roman ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (referee) ; Jegla, Zdeněk (advisor)
This thesis deals with the calculation procedures for determining the heat transfer coefficient for steam condensers. The first section provides a basic overview for industrial steam condensers and possible procedure for selecting the appropriate type of tube condenser. The next section describes the types of condensation and equations for determining the heat transfer coefficient for various geometries of tubular condensers. In the final section there is performed practical calculation of condenser in Maple software using the above relations. The results obtained in this calculation are compared with the results obtained by professional computational software Chemcad and HTRI.
Study of potential of heat transfer enhancement in process plant
Němeček, Zbyněk ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (referee) ; Jegla, Zdeněk (advisor)
This diploma thesis is a study of the potential of heat transfer enhancement in the process of hydrogenation refining of oil. The simulation of the process and the heat-hydraulic analysis of the heat exchanger network are performed using the software tools. Based on the obtained results and the results of the optimization study, a new heat exchanger is placed in the process and its parameters are subject to further calculations. The aim is to study the possibilities of heat transfer enhancement for the newly used heat exchanger and to discuss aspects connected with the use of selected software.
Aspects of tubular heat exchangers modeling using available software tools
Ondriašová, Patricie ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (referee) ; Jegla, Zdeněk (advisor)
The proposed master´s thesis looks into the aspects of tubular heat exchangers modeling using available software tools. In the first – theoretical part there is a description of distribution and types of heat exchangers, including a detailed description of the industrial heat exchanger solved in this thesis. Another chapter is devoted to the main computational relations and calculation methods used in the context of thermo-hydraulic calculation. The main part of thesis consists of chapters, which are devoted to selected available software and perform calculations using the software in the specific industrial case. Finally, there is summary of the various software and a recommendation for the specific program for the need.
Thermal-hydraulic analysis of operated heat exchanger
Chudý, Dávid ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (referee) ; Jegla, Zdeněk (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on the thermal-hydraulic analysis of an operating heat exchanger in an ethylene evaporation unit. In the theoretical part of the thesis the design of shell and tube heat exchanger and the basics of the thermal-hydraulic calculation are presented. The subject of the practical part is the evaporator, which is a part of the unit without measuring the flow rates of the hot stream – steam, and the cold stream – ethylene. Therefore, ChemCAD is used to calculate mass and energy balance of the unit. The actual thermal-hydraulic calculation of the evaporator is then performed in the HTRI software. For the purpose of analysing the evaporator behaviour under different operating conditions, a combined model is developed. The model consists of an iterative calculation procedure between ChemCAD and HTRI. The computational model verifies the evaporator function under several operating conditions. In addition to the design proposals, the work also includes new customized evaporator designs together with an economic evaluation.
