QoS in UMTS

This thesis treats of QoS (Quality of Service) in UMTS system. The term quality of service is frequently used, recently, however not only in computer networks, but also more and more in mobile networks also. Present system of 2nd generation (2G) GSM enables only limited exploitation of QoS function. System UMTS is a system of 3rd generation (3G) already and contains quality of service in greater measure which is ensured with number of algorithms and functions. Individual QoS functions enable effective utilization of radio interface, support maintenance of planned coverage and offer high spectral efficiency. Functions that cater to quality of service are called RRM functions (Radio Resource Management). There exist five basic functions in UMTS system that are Admission control (AC), Power control (PC), Load control (LC), Handover control (HC) and Packet scheduler (PS). These functions are responsible for control of network access, control of power, control of network load, control of handover and packet (bit rate) scheduling. Last three functions are usually collectively designated as Congestion control, control of network overload. UMTS layer model, differentiation of services, traffic classes and 3GPP concept are also discussed. In thesis the attention is piad to Admission control algorithm – control of network access – in the uplink direction and to different ways of load (in the cell) modeling. Individual approaches are simulated in MATLAB. A possibility of using algorithm in the real system is discussed in conclusion.
Electronically controllable frequency filters with current active elements

The aim of the thesis is to study the possibilities of the electronic frequency ?lter com- posed of active elements operating in current mode. The main opportunities lie in the change control parameters, most are marginal or quality factor frequency. As the active elements are considered especially CC (Current Convejor), controllable current ampli?er DACA (Digitally Adjustable Current Ampli?er) or combination with the current tracker MO-CF (Multiple Output Current Follower). Another part will focus on the management of the above parameters using digital potentiometers and choosing the appropriate ?lter structure. The ?nal task was to digital control parameters using a PC and measuring its properties.
Design of frequency filters by the method of autonomous circuit with multi-port current-controlled current sources

The aim is to study the principles of controllable frequency current-mode filters. The paper summarizes the general characteristics of current elements. The work focuses on the element GCMI and its use in multi frequency current-mode filters. The filter is designed autonomous method. The filter is simulated with active elements of the OPA860 and AD844. Finally, in this work is multi-filter is implemented in a practical implementation of the active element OPA860.
Design and testing of the system for localizing a sound source

This bachelor’s thesis deals with possibilities of sound source localization. There are generally mentioned possible hardware and software solutions at the beginning, from which two applicable methods and suitable components of test device are selected. Further there is a practical part of this work, where programmed algorithms are described. An essential part is testing. Accuracy is tested for the selected microphone array, depending on the change in the number and position of the sensors, the effect of ambient noise, and the location of the obstacle in the area. The output of the tests is the evaluation of functionality and accuracy for both methods used.

Intermolecular Interactions in Proteins - Abstract Mgr. Jiří Kysilka Non-covalent interactions are responsible for the protein folding and the molecular recognition during the protein interaction with other molecules, including various ligands, other proteins and solvent molecules. In order to understand these processes, exhibited by protein molecules, a proper description of non-covalent interactions is needful. Most methods that are computationally available for the systems of biological interest have difficulties handling with the dispersion term. In this thesis, a density functional theory / coupled clusters (DFT/CC) correction scheme is utilized for a set of small molecules, interacting with a graphitic surface. The results serve as a benchmark for the interaction of the functional groups of proteins with hydrophobic environment. In the following part of this thesis, the role of non-covalent interactions in proteins was studied for the processes of protein-protein interaction and protein hydration. Interaction interfaces has been localized in a set of 69 protein dimers and their composition has been characterized. Interfaces has been shown to prefer branched-chain hydrophobic amino acids (Ile, Leu, Val), aromatic amino acids (Phe, Tyr) and exclude the charged amino acids except of Arg. It was...
