Mangunda, Laura ; Záhora, Jakub (advisor) ; Daniel, Jan (referee)
1 Abstract This thesis examines the case study of Israel's treatment of the BDS movement through the lens of securitization theory, specifically the political sector of security. Following the new developments of the theory that focus on the contextual approach to security and on the non-exceptional security measures as determinants of successful securitization, this thesis has two objectives. First, in consideration of the contextual approach to security, it seeks to analyse how the securitizing actors securitized BDS in the chosen speeches of Benjamin Netanyahu, Gilad Erdan and Danny Danon. Second, in consideration of non-exceptional security measures, it seeks to offer an overview of adopted anti-BDS measures in order to evaluate whether the securitization of the boycott movement in Israel has been successful.

Vicková, Tereza ; Bečka, Jan (advisor) ; Calda, Miloš (referee)
1 Abstract This thesis focuses on the academic boycott of Israel in the United States of America. There is special focus on two movements, United States Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (USACBI) and BDS Movement. This thesis includes a basic description of these campaigns, their activities and also their supporters. Analytic part is dedicated to explanation of concept of academic boycott. They are presented the main arguments in support of boycott compared to the opposing ones. The main research question of this work is if USACBI and BDS Movement do have a real impact on Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The result of this analysis is that they do have influence on the conflict even if they do not have a many impact on finding the solution. USACBI is the major supporter for opening a democratic debate about this issue. It also supports freedom of speech and giving space to professors who disagree with official policy of USA. BDS Movement is creating a pressure on Israeli government that could be a useful tool for solving the conflict between Israel and Palestine.
