Vyskočilová, Hana ; Adamcová, Lenka (advisor) ; Honajzrová Banús, Shirley C. (referee)
The history of regional initiatives in Latin America is very rich and varied. Immediately after declaration of independence, there was a tendency to form a political union. Integration groupings developed in the twentieth century are trying with various success rate to enhance mutual trade and political ties in the region. These efforts can be divided into two periods, the first, the old regionalism, from the early sixties to the debt crisis in the eighties and the second period, the new regionalism from the turn of the eighties and nineties. The object of this work is to draw a comparison between these regionalistic trends in Latin America - old and new regionalism - and be exampled by integration group. As the best example to compare the regionalistic trends was chosen: the Andean Pact (the Andean Community of Nations).
Attitudes of MERCOSUR and Andean pact to the Free Trade Area of Americas
Řiháková, Veronika ; Hnát, Pavel (advisor) ; Krč, Jakub (referee)
The objective is to identify attitudes of two Latin Americas' integration groupings - MERCOSUR and Andean Community - and their members to the Free Trade Area of Americas. The groupings take different attitudes to FTAA - MERCOSUR with its leader Brazil fights againts creation of the FTAA, on the contrary, two members of the Andean community signed the free trade agreements with USA. Briefly I characterize the groupings, its members (Brazil, Colombia and Peru), trade bindings and I try to identify the strategic sectors of economy that play an important role in the decision making process about creation of the FTAA.
