NOBLEMAN AT THE TURN OF BAROQUE AND ENLIGHTENMENT
HÁLOVÁ, Michaela
This work endeavours to introduce two treatises which deal with the topic of ideal nobleman at the turn of Baroque and Enlightenment in Czech lands. Both of them were written in French by scholars who had some relation with Czech lands. The first one is a manuscript called ?Le prince selon Dieu et les hommes prouvé par les propres paroles de l? écriture sainte et appuyé du témoignage des docteurs de l?église et des Meilleurs auteurs profanes?? ( The Prince according to God and the people, proved by the words of Holy Scripture and supported by the testimony of church scholars and of the best secular authors) which was written in 1725 by a teacher of French language named Philibert Joseph le Roux and its content shows the baroque point of view of virtues which are indispensable for every Christian prince. The second one is younger, it is a print called ?Connoissances que doit avoir un jeune seigneur ou l?idée d?un homme d?honneur? (The Knowledge which a young man has to have i.e. the ideal of the honest man) which was created at the end of 18th century. The aim of its analysis is to find out if the ideal of nobleman during 18th century has changed or not. The introduction of this thesis defines the topic and analyzes the state of research. In the next parts, the thinking of Baroque and Enlightenment is indicated as well as the change of position of the nobility during these two periods. The main part introduces a scholarly account of virtues and qualities which are, in a view of each author, necessary for every aristocrat.
Based on the Example of the Hluboká nad Vltavou Manor, Adam Franz of Schwarzenberg´s Residential Strategy at the Beginning of the 18th Century
IVANEGA, Jan
The Thesis Based on the Example of the Hluboká nad Vltavou Manor, Adam Franz of Schwarzenberg´s Residential Strategy at the Beginning of the 18th Century deals with research of usage ways of the Hluboká nad Vltavou manor in the era of Adam Franz of Schwarzenberg. The core of the debate is the commentary on the three mansions demonstrably used by the aristocracy ? the Hluboká nad Vltavou castle, Ohrada hunting mansion, and Libníč spa complex. The study, built up on the analysis of correspodence, prime-source plan and accounting documents, has proved that the Hluboká nad Vltavou manor was the main Czech property of the family before inheriting Eggenberg´s property in 1719. Its importance, given among others by the geographical position, was emphasized by building of the Ohrada hunting mansion. This served, among others, as a storage of hunting tools that were demonstrably used in other South Bohemian manors as well. I consider extensive adjustments of the castle area as further evidence of the prominent status of the Hluboká nad Vltavou Castle; especially building of the votive chapel in the expanded Libníč spa that served to the inhabitants of all the concerned manors. After gaining Eggenber property, the centre of Schwarzenberg´s stays in South Bohemia moved to Český Krumlov; and the Hluboká mansion lost its priviliged status after Adam František of Schwarzenberg´s death.
LE PRINCE SELON DIEU ET LES HOMMES Virtues of Christian prince for Adam Franz of Schwarzenberg
( The Prince according to God and the people, proved by the words of Holy Scripture and supported by the testimony of church scholars and of the best secular authors). The manuscript was written in 1725 by Philibert Joseph de Roux, a French scholar at the court of margrave of Baden-Baden, and dedicated to prince Adam Franz of Schwarzenberg. The author presents a schoraly account of virtues and qualities which are, in his view, necessary for every Christian prince. The introduction of our thesis defines the topic and analyzes the state of research. In the next part, the formal characteristics of the manuscript are described. The aim of de Roux´s tract was to prove his concept of virtues and vices by examples selected from Holy Scripture, from ancient history and also modern European history as well.
Paul Ignatz Bayer, Adam Frantz Prince of Schwartzenberg and Chateau of Ohrada as a part of the Residence Network of the Baroque Nobleman
IVANEGA, Jan
The Bachelor Thesis Pavel Ignác Bayer, Adam František from Schwarzenberg and Ohrada Lodge. The hunting lodge as part of the baroque nobleman´s residential net deals with the examitation of the Hunting Lodge Ohrada in a wider cultural and historical context. Jan Ivanega focuses on research of the builder´s intellectual world, and its reflection in the specific Ohrada building task. The analysis of the research sources (correspondence, bills, plans from State Archive Třeboň) has proofed that building of Ohrada Lodge was not a creative act of the only one person but a combination of a wide range of factors, from the builder´s own wishes over the economic possibilities of the domaine, to the architect and craftsmen´s abilities. The author has taken advantage of until today unknown stock for reconstruction of the original image, operation of seperated parts of the complex, and its placement into a wider landscape framework. He concludes the work by considering a possible use of the Ohrada Lodge after finishing its construction, and its placement within the Schwarzenberg´s residential net.
