The importance of pronation position in the care of patients with Acute respiratory distress syndrome
ARNOŠTOVÁ, Kateřina
The bachelor thesis deals with the prone position, which is used as a method for treating patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome. The aim of this work is to show the importance of the prone position for patients with ARDS from the point of view of a non-medical healthcare worker and to determine the obstacles posed by applying this position. The theoretical part is based on studying the professional literature and professional journals, and dividing data into individual chapters. The individual chapters deal with the definition of the terms acute respiratory distress and the prone position. This followed by the causes of ARDS, which are described in individual chapters, ARDS treatment, which also includes the use of the prone and semi-prone position, and the particularities of nursing care. The practical part of the bachelor thesis is focused on evaluating the answers to the research questions which were asked using a qualitative research strategy. The data were obtained through interviews with non-medical health professionals from the anaesthesiology and resuscitation department at the hospital in České Budějovice who, during their training in this department, have experienced the use of the prone position in practice. The data obtained were analysed by open coding and subsequently categorized into individual categories. Finally, it was possible to evaluate the aim of the bachelor thesis and draw some conclusions. The results of the research show that the prone position became a widely used method of ARDS treatment during the Covid-19 pandemic. The prone position is used for patients with Covid-19 when all the therapeutic options have been exhausted and the use of the prone position is the last hope to save their lives.

Anzari, Mikoláš ; Chroustová, Kristina (advisor) ; Nováková, Tereza (referee)
Title: Case study of physiotherapeutic care of a patient diagnosed with pneumonia Aims: The aim of this thesis is to briefly summarize the basic theoretical knowledge of pneumonia from professional sources and to apply selected physiotherapeutic methods used in the diagnosis of pneumonia and to assess their effectiveness. Summary: In the first part of the theoretical part, the basic theoretical knowledge of pneumonia is briefly summarized and ARDS is also marginally described. The second part outlines how physiotherapists can contribute in the treatment of these conditions and what evidence-based medicine has to say about physiotherapeutic approaches in the ICU and in pneumonia. The special part of this bachelor thesis is based on a continuous professional practice at the Department of Anaesthesiology, Resuscitation and Intensive Care at the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Prague between 10 January 2022 and 4 February 2022 and is presented in the form of a case report of a patient with a diagnosis of pneumonia. Keywords: pneumonia, ARDS, pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory physiotherapy
Case Study of Physiotherapy Treatment of a Patient with MODS and Covid-19 in Case History
Jílková, Lucie ; Opatrná Novotná, Irena (advisor) ; Charvát, Robert (referee)
Title: Case study of the physiotherapy treatment of patient with MODS and Covid-19 in case history Abstract This bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of acute and postacute physiotherapeutic care in patients hospitalized in the ICU. The primary aim of the thesis was to conduct the specific case study and provide theoretical basis for diagnoses and physiotherapeutic interventions related to the given case study. Secondary objective was to briefly summarise the current available knowledge about Covid-19, post-Covid syndrome and highlight the importance of this issue in physiotherapeutic practice. This report is divided into three main parts. The first two chapters are theoretical. They focus on detailed descriptions of selected diagnoses and possible therapeutic interventions. These include systemic inflammatory response syndrome, sepsis, septic shock, multiple organ dysfunction syndrome, acute respiratory distress syndrome and post-Covid syndrome. Within the physiotherapeutic approaches, selected methods of pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory physiotherapy and current recommended rehabilitation procedures for patients with post-Covid syndrome are presented. The third part is practical and contains a specific case study of a patient with a history of multiorgan failure and Covid-19 disease. The case study...
