Albrecht Rendl of Ousava († 1522): notable member of insignificant family

In second half of 15th century, Bohemia was confronted with many social changes. One of the most important was the effort to codify land law which was finalized by the publishing of Vladislaus's land law. It's leading author was Albrecht Rendl of Ousava. Because of it Rendl became well known among his contemporaries and in general historical awareness. There are only few known facts about the rest of his life. He served as royal prosecutor for a long time, but he also obtained two of the highest land offices - the supreme land scribe and the prosecutor. Rendl represents a kind of person able to promote himself to the highest points of contemporary policy due to his formidable personal abilities.

The theme of this thesis is history of the knights (later lords) of Vřesovice in the late Middle Ages. The work deals mainly with political and economic role of the family members in the late medieval Bohemia, with special attention to the hussite captain Jakoubek of Vřesovice, who was mainly responisible for family rise. Furthermore, this work tries to answer the question, what happened to the family of Vřesovice since Jakoubek's death until the late Middle Ages, because during the 16th century, knights of Vřesovice belonged to the most powerful aristocratic families in Bohemia. Family members from the times of king George and Jagellonian rulers were not yet reflected by many historians. Fates of individual family members are assessed and placed into historical context. The work deals with property relations of knights of Vřesovice and manifestations of their aristocratic representation. As a whole, the work probes into political, economic, cultural and social life in late medieval northwest Bohemia. Knight Christoph of Týn. Warrior and Diplomat of the Late Middle Age

Theme of the bachelor work is the life of Christoph of Týn (in German Christoph von Thein, 1453 - after 1517), who was a knight living in the formerly Loket region (today Karlovy Vary region, Sokolov district). Knight Christoph of Týn was a significant diplomat, soldier and writer, who wrote his own arresting autobiography. A target of this work are critical analysis of this literary work and comparations with the other medieval sources, which are observing the same events in the same time and his live is implanting in the broker context. Knight's autobiography is also a part of his own urbarium, which helps us to the cognition of his property and economical working of his domain Starý Hrozňatov (Alt-Kiensberg). Parts of this work are too excursions about his family, issue of autobiography in the middle-ages, kinghood in the Loket region and war between Holy roman emperor Frederic III. and Hungarian king Matthias Corvinus.
