To research the stereotypes in Czech and German proverbs

This bachelor work deals with stereotypes, which occur in Czech and German proverbs. Firstly, the concept of stereotype and proverb is explained. Stereotype is confronted with terms that are related to it (prejudice, discrimination) and some types and sorts are described. Progression is described internationally and also separately in territory of the Czech Republic and Germany in the proverb part. The typical composition of these statements is also mentioned. In practical part, the survey helps to determine the differences of stereotypical opinions between Czechs and Germans (opinions about their and foreign nation). Based on discovered results, proverbs in Czech and German language are arranged into groups. Those are based on typical characteristics, which occur in mentioned proverbs.

Czech and Russian Proverbs in Comparison

ANNOTATION: The work is focused on the comparison of the Czech and Russian proverbs. The main objective is to find similarities and differences that result from the culture of both language communities. The theoretical part interprets proverbs as a part of the folk literature. There is explained its content and formal aspects, set up to the cultural and social context of the nation. The practical part compares selected Czech and Russian proverbs, where the main aim is to find their common and different motives. Woman in Spanish Proverbs

The aim of this thesis is a characterization of the term "woman" on the basis of the Spanish proverbs that are concerned with this topic. The aspects concerning the personality of a woman, such as her positive and negative attributes, are introduced in the theoretical part. The theoretical part also focuses on particular life stages in a woman´s life and on social roles that a woman takes on throughout her life. An analysis of a chosen sample of Spanish proverbs in the context of the Czech language is conducted in the second part of the work.
