Causes of Passive Resistance of Germans at the Czech Landtag (1886-1890)
Illichmann, Michal ; Doubek, Vratislav (advisor) ; Štefek, Martin (referee)
This thesis focuses on German demands of administrative and political division of Bohemia in 1880s, which proceeded a few year lasting German representatives boycott of the Czech Assembly (Landtag). Its aim is to observe construction of German argumentation and a brief analysis of the bills proposed on the topic of division of the country. The main part of the thesis follows constitutional and national demands of Czech Germans toward Bohemia as a historical land and Austro-Hungarian empire where Germans lived together with other nations. All the above is interpreted within a framework of development of German liberal thinking in Austria and advancing nationalization among the German political leaders. The main objective of the work is better understanding of evolution of political and national thinking of Germans living in Bohemia at the end of 19th Century.
