In theoretical part I focus on anatomy, lead and innervation of the median nerve, etiology, pathophysiology, classification of carpal tunnel syndrome according to clinical findings, diagnosis, treatment, complications and prevention of carpal tunnel syndrome. Noninvasive physiotherapy method of carpal tunnel syndrome include: physical therapy, mobilization and manipulation therapy, techniques on neurodynamic base, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation and kinesiotaping. The practical part contains two case reports. The first case study deals with the physical therapy treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome by conservative method. The second case study deals with the physical therapy treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome by operative method. The aim of this work is to determine and compare the effectiveness of treatment.

Ulnar nerve entrapment syndromes and their therapy

The ulnar nerve is the second most commonly affected peripheral nerve after the median nerve by compression neuropathy. Nerve compression most often occurs in the cubital tunnel. Less often, the nerve is compressed by Struthers' arcade in the arm or in the Guyon's canal in the wrist. The research part of the thesis summarizes the findings of the anatomy, pathophysiology and etiology of ulnar nerve entrapment syndromes. The issue of risk factors is also discussed, including the influence of the work environment and sports activities. Diagnosis consists of a thorough clinical examination and electrodiagnostics in combination with the use of modern imaging methods, especially diagnostic ultrasound and magnetic resonance. Pharmacological, orthotic, and surgical treatment options are briefly described. More space is devoted to physiotherapeutic interventions, which includes the possibilities of kinesiotherapy and physical-therapeutic methods. The practical part presents case reports of three patients with compression of the ulnar nerve in various anatomical strains. Patients were clinically examined before therapy, 3 days after therapy, and during the follow up after 20 days from the end of therapy. The possibilities of physiotherapy of carpal tunnel syndrome by sewers

This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of carpal tunnel syndrome. The research topic is work of sewers and elimination of health problems, which emerge after a sewer, had performer this work for long time without taking proper compensation. I present theoretic knowledge in the first part that makes foundation for the research part. I refer to upper extremity anatomy and its setting to the motion and I refer to ergonomic principles, which influence the posture quality. In addition to it, I refer to knowledge of carpal tunnel syndrome and possibilities of physiotherapy intervention. The aim of the thesis is to describe the possibilities of physiotherapy of this dysfunction, to suggest a therapy and to focus on adjustment of work environment which should prevent sewers' wrists and their posture from overburdening. The research part utilizes the qualitative methods, which want to evaluate data gained from three probands. The methods I use are observation, comparison, survey, semi-structured dialog and kinesiology analysis. I perform in therapy manual techniques, kinesiotherapeutic and occupational therapy methods and consulting on increasing the quality of sewers work. I noticed after four-month therapy that clinical symptoms of CTS (carpal tunnel syndrome) which the probands were suffering from were reduced because of selected health care. Work condition adjustment of each proband was made through the instruction. Its assessment could not be carried out because I did not have the opportunity to check it. The results did not attest anything after such short period. Even though final neurological screening did not prove the improved median nerve conducting, both aims of the bachelor thesis were successfully accomplished.
