After the review, the proposal of a design of the Backtesting application follows, which should simplify the work of end-users.

Modeling of fracture process in quasi-brittle materials

This work is focused on the evaluation of the selected fracture parameters of quasi-brittle material, especially concrete, and an assessment of their dependence on the size and shape of the fracture process zone developing at the tip of the macroscopic crack during fracture. For this purpose, experimentally obtained loading diagrams published in the scientific literature have been utilized. These diagrams have been processed into a form enabling creation and calibration of numerical models of these tests in the ATENA FEM program. The results obtained from simulations of the three-point bending tests on beams of four sizes, with three notches lengths, using the created numerical models were used for determination of fracture parameters of concrete. Results of the work consist of the determined values of the specific energy dissipated for creation of new surfaces of the effective crack and an estimation of the specific energy dissipated in the volume of the fracture process zone, which exhibits specific parameters for each beam size and notch length.

Complex evaluation of brittleness of selected building composites

Specified topic of the thesis is a multilevel evaluation of brittleness of selected building composites. The work deals with the opinions of fracture parameters of test specimens of lightweight and ordinary concrete. Specimens further differed fibres content in concrete mixtures, their type and length. The work is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part conceives composite materials and introduction to fracture mechanics. The practical part describes the different steps for fracture-mechanical parameters evaluation using StiCrack and Excel Visual Basic software. The main part of the work is to evaluate the brittleness of different test specimens, taking into account the type of concrete mix and type of fibres.

Feasibility study: Hg removal technology using electrochemical methods - large unit and its comparison with alternative technology

In the introductory chapters, an introduction to the technology for Hg capture from combustion processes using electrochemical methods (membrane electrolyzer)and the design of a unit with capacity applicable to a typical power plant unit was made. This technology has not fully demonstrated its effectiveness from laboratory tests in semi-operational trials. These findings have been taken into account in the design of the unit for a larger power plant, therefore the design considers the use of more units in parallel, which places demands on the built-up space. The number of units used and the size of the built-up area is then matched by the high cost of the investment. Although this is a technology that does not consume any chemicals or sorbents - only electricity - it is an investment and operationally expensive technology, as can be seen from the comparison with alternative technologies. A comparison of the investment costs and cumulative expenditure (investment, reinvestment, maintenance and operating costs) for the electrochemical technology with electrolyzer and the two alternative technologies shows that if the economic aspect alone is the decisive criterion for the choice of technology, the technology of dosing Na2S solution into the scrubber absorber solution for flue gas treatment clearly comes out best at current prices.

Development of a Pilot Plant for Reduction Hg Emission from Large Power Plant.

The contribution introduces the project TACR TA04020723, Development of a pilot plant for monitoring of Hg emissions reduction from large and medium capacity energy sources. The project responds to the new EU BAT legislative, where both emission limits for Hg concentration in flue gas and continual Hg concentration measurement requirements are stated. The objective of the contribution is an introduction of the project and the results gained in 2014. Analyses of certain lignite and coal samples were done to specify the Hg amount and balance of other compounds concentration was calculated with regard to the specifics of combustion process of a particular power source. At the end of 2014, a measurement was carried out at the large power plant. Hg concentrations were measured in the combustion products and were compared with balance calculation.

Bidirectional pneumatic stepper motor

The diploma thesis Bidirectional pneumatic stepper motor concentrates on a step shaft rotation in the presented scheme of a kinematic mechanism. The introductory research part of the diploma thesis lists various types of pneumatic components and the analysis of elements in pneumatic circuits is provided. The following section of the thesis concentrates on designing a new scheme of a pneumatic stepper and construction of a functional mock-up. The final part of the diploma thesis offers a summary and final evaluation of the design and offers subsequent alterations for its further usage.

The diploma thesis named Continuous monitoring of a machine tool wear deals with the issue of tool wear of machining. The thesis is divided into segments and the first segment deals with the areas of tool wear, the specific trends in the field of eliminating the tool wear and prolonging durability of tools, non-destructive test methods. These segments are a critical parts of the research, in the following part concentrates on the testing performed by the method of acoustic emission. The last part concentrates on the critical evaluation of the testing results.

WorkPprogress Report and Achievements for 2018.

It was designed by SMS CZ demonstration unit for which basic functional tests have been performed. Operational data and protocols from the basic unit testing are presented. Small modifications of heat exchanger have been proposed. It is expected to propose fuel dosage control with regard to operator level and operation conditions.
