The Work with the Bible in small groups

Abstract The theoretical part of this thesis is based on a treatise about work with the Bible in ecclesiastical documents, primarily in the constitution Dei Verbum, Verbum Domini and in other Pontifical Biblical Commission documents. This thesis finds out the volume of available literature about the work with the Bible in catholic and non-catholic background and also specifyes the term 'small group' in terms of pastoral work. Practical part of the work describes different ways of biblical work in groups. Summary of methods for work with the Bible is divided into two categories. Methods in the first category are accessible to everyone, educated moderator is needed in the second one. Both categories provide characterization of commonly used processes. Results are evaluated in the terms of suitability for specific age group and according to other criteria also. Abstract This thesis is to find out the volume of available literature for work with the Bible in catholic and as well as non-catholic background and to specify the term 'small group'. Inspiration is found in ecclesiastical documents Verbum Domini and Dei Verbum, in The Letter of Bishop Egger also. Different methods and ways of work in groups are mentioned in general. Wide list of methods of particular work with the Bible according to Anneliese Hecht, which were successfully tested in practice, is divided basically into two coverages. At first the methods affordable to everyone, at second the methods where the educated moderator is needed. Both types of methods offer in the small group with the focus on the personal needs fruits of common prayer as well as an experience and a calm mind due to fulfillment of the psychic needs.
