The presence of pollutants in matrices of bioindicators

This master‘s thesis concerns with occurrence of heavy metals in the environment, mainly in the matrices of bioindicators. Special attention is given to occurrence of mercury in the environment and its quantification in bioindicators. Mercury and its compounds are today considered as one of the most significant contaminants in the environment. Some sorts of mushrooms cumulate sizable amounts of mercury in their fruiting body and therefore we can use them to consider loading of different areas. Eight areas in Vizovice and its surroundings were chosen for these purposes and during the years 2006 – 2008 harvested 50 samples from 19 sorts of mushrooms from there. The concentrations of Hg were determined in all samples by single-purpose absorption spectrometer AMA 254. Comparison of the mercury content between individual sorts of mushrooms in the same area as well as comparison of loading of areas was performed and also bioaccumulation ability of individual sorts of mushrooms was determined.

Utilization of edible and medicinal mushrooms in food industry

The theoretical part of the diploma thesis deals with the general structure of mush-rooms, nutritional composition and constituents with biological activity affecting the human body. The practical part of the work is focused on the use of alternative flours and other auxiliary raw materials to create gluten-free pastries with a higher nutritional value. Dried and ground fruiting bodies of oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus) and Chinese caterpillars (Cordyceps sinensis) served as enriching ingredients in this experiment. A mixture of naturally gluten-free flours was experimentally created as the basic matrix, in which the effect of the addition of processed edible mushrooms on selected baking properties of the products was subsequently monitored. The pre-pared samples were evaluated by sensory analysis. The results were statistically eval-uated and processed into a graph. A questionnaire survey is also involved in the work.

Ověření účinku některých herbicidních přípravků na druhové spektrum plevelů v obilninách

Today weeds belong to very significant harmful agents in the protection of field crops. The occurrence is influenced by a number of factors (method of cultivation, soil cultivation, soil-climatic conditions, nutrient content and application of herbicides, etc.) The aim of this bachelor thesis is to broaden the knowledge about the biology, occurrence and harmfulness of weed species in cultivated cereals and to verify the effect of some herbicidal preparations after an application to weeds. An evaluation of the species spectrum of weeds occurring at the monitored sites in winter wheat was performed in a small-plot experiment.
