The possibilities to use biochar-based fertilizing substrates from combined hydrothermochemical treatment of contaminated biowastes

The methodology aim is to provide the basic information about fertilizing products for improving soil properties based on combined hydrothermochemical treatment of biowaste, including contaminated ones (especially sewage sludge) to the farmers, agricultural advisers, owners and operators of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) and biogas plants (BGP), experts in reclamation and amelioration field, investors and others interested parties on the questions concerned. In the introduction, the methodology provides a basic overview about literary information regarding to coal similar materials, methods for their preparation, especially the methods of biowaste hydrothermochemical carbonization, including contaminated ones, as well as an overview about their basic properties and especially the possibilities and perspectives of application in practice. Furthermore, the methodology describes the results obtained during the solution of the research project that are usable in practice, and it provides their agrochemical, ecological and economic evaluation, too. Finally, it is provided an overview of the potential and main possibilities to apply the new fertilizers based on biowaste hydrothermochemical treatment, including contaminated ones, for improving soil properties and especially for the fertilization of common agricultural and anthropogenic soils.

Production and use of specialized substrates and organic fertilizers in agriculture: Methodology for practice

The aim of the methodology is to provide to farmers, agricultural advisors, gardeners, producers and users of organic fertilizers and cultivation substrates, research workers and agricultural educators and all other interested parties, the basic information on the possibilities to use specialized substrates and organic fertilizers in agriculture. Its application in practice can ensure environmentally acceptable and economically efficient fertilization of agricultural crops. In the introduction, the methodology provides a basic overview of literary information about the concerned issue. Furthermore, the methodology describes the results obtained during the research project, which can be used in practice and provides agrochemical, agronomic and economic assessment. Part of the methodology is the assessment of agrochemical efficiency of fertilizer application at the cultivation of selected agricultural crops. There are described application methods and effects on soil and plants. Finally, it provides a summary of the results achieved and general recommendations for practice.

Cultivation of reed canary grass Phalaris arundinacea L. for biogas production: methodology for practice

The basic aim of the methodology is to provide farmers, agricultural advisors, providers of biogas plants and anyone others the basic information about growing and processing for biogas a prospective non-traditional crop - reed canary grass Phalaris arundinacea L. Up to now, a comprehensive methodology for cultivation and utilization of this crop for biogas production is not processed. The publication provides basic botanical characteristics of the crop, specifies its soil and ecological habitat requirements, describes the agricultural technologies for seeding, cultivation, fertilization, plant protection, harvesting and post-harvest ensiling and gives an overview of potential yields of biomass and biogas, especially methane including their economic evaluation.

Processing of biodegradable waste containing raw materials of animal origin into fertilizer substrates: methodology for practice

The aim of the methodology is to provide to farmers, agricultural advisors, biogas manufacturers and processors, owners and operators of biogas stations and composting plants, investors and other interested parties, the basic information on the possibilities of hygienic treatment at biodegradable waste containing animal raw materials to fertilizer substrates and the ways of their use. The patented combined method of acid and alkaline biowaste treatment ensures a sufficient stabilization and efficient hygiene of the output product, allowing to be further utilized for composting, biogasification, or for soil application as a valuable fertilizer substrate, as well. A part of the methodology is the evaluation of agrochemical efficiency at output use of fertilizer substrates in the cultivation of selected agricultural crops. The methodology is intended for a wide range of users. The methodology can serve as a basis for the adaptation of technical facilities, technological processes and also as a material for teaching at secondary agricultural schools, agricultural universities or agricultural advisors.

The objective of this methodology is to provide to farmers, agricultural consultants, manufacturers of shaped solid biofuels, operators of boilers using biofuels, workers in research and agricultural education, and to all others interested persons in growing and processing agricultural biomass as a renewable source of raw materials and energy, the basic information about the energetic use of wood from apple tree pruning and some other fruit woods. Applying of this methodology in practice can provide environmentally acceptable and economically effective use of such wood waste. At the introduction, this work provides a basic overview of literary information on relevant issues. Furthermore, the methodology describes own outcomes obtained during the research project usable in practice and provides chemical, energetic and economic evaluation. At the conclusion is presented a summary assessment of the achieved outcomes and a general recommendation for practice.

The publication reports on the development and testing of a new preservative for phytomass ensilage destined for biogas production, especially of excessively dry plants. Its use in practice can provide a cost-effective reduction of organic dry matter losses, increase silage quality and also increase the production of biogas.

The possibilities to combine biogas production and biowaste hydrothermal carbonization

The objective of the methodology is to provide to farmers, agricultural consultants, owners and operators of biogas plants, to biowaste producers and processors, to experts in the field of soil reclamation and melioration, to investors and other interested parties on the concerned issues, the basic information about the potential at the combination of biogas production and biowaste hydrothermal carbonization. These options are evaluated on the basis of processing at accumulated energy intensity for the above combined processes and its comparison with conservative biogas production using the example biogas plant with installed electrical capacity of 800 kW. Part of the methodology is guided to evaluate the potential use of thermo- pressure hydrolysis unit as a device for digestate hydrothermal carbonization and other wastes in order to improve their performance, particularly in terms of employment in agriculture as highquality substrates for soil fertilization and for the purpose of soil carbon sequestration.

In the introduction, the methodology provides a basic overview on literature regarding to coal similar materials, methods for their preparation, especially the way of hydrothermal carbonization, its basic characteristics and its possibilities and perspectives of application in practice. Furthermore, the methodology describes the actual results obtained during the research project usable in practice and provides their agrochemical, environmental and economic evaluation in the case of application at soils. At the end summarizes the main potential applications and uses of new products based on hydrothermally modified residues as essential components of the filter medium for water and air cleaning.
