Vladimír Grégr and architecture in Czechoslovakia during the interwar years
Sosnovcová, Eva ; Lahoda, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Kratochvíl, Petr (referee)
The subject of this thesis is Czech architect Vladimír Grégr (1902-1943). His buildings are mainly in Prague, and concentrated in the Barrandov Terraces area. So far academic scholarship has focused on the aerodynamic aspect of his work, a trend which was also current in Germany and Poland, and represented by a group of architects called Der Ring, which included figures such as Hugo Häring, Hans Scharoun, Adolf Rading, Max and Bruno Taut. While this influence is certainly present in Grégr's buildings that date from 1930-33, it occupies a relatively minor part of his career as a whole, when compared to subsequent projects dating from 1933-1940. The end of this second period is marked by his arrest by the Nazis, an imprisonment which lasted until his execution in Plötzensee in 1943. It was during this second phase when Grégr constructed romanticized Spanish villas, resembling cottages with their saddle roofing, wooden shutters and arcades. As yet we can only speculate as to why he changed his architectural style, but it appears to be a deliberate regression from Functionalism and has more in common with Frank Lloyd Wright, Czech folk architecture and elements of the German trend, heimatstil. I also describe parallel cases in Czech architecture of the same period, which suggests that Grégr's approach to...

Comparison of care for persons with physical and multiple disabilities in special equipment and home
SOSNOVCOVÁ, Eva
Over a billion people, more than 15% of the world's population, have some form of disability. For the present time is in the care of persons with disabilities typically comprehensive and coordinated approach. However, there are other views and approaches that emphasize e.g. to specific access a particular facility. Extremely important is the involvement of parents not only to take care about their own children with disabilities, but also in decision- making process when they are needed to create sufficient space for their own view on the issue. The first chapter deals with disability. The individual sub-sections analyze the distribution of disability. The second chapter is devoted to the concept of family, its functionality and the types of. The third and final chapter of the theoretical part is devoted to social services. The research I used a qualitative method, the results came through I half structure interview. I examined two research files. The first was facilities that provide homes for people with disabilities. The first one was from Kutná Hora and the second one from Odlochovice. The second research sample consists of mothers of children with physical and multiple disabilities from around Kutná Hora. The aim of my thesis is to compare the complexity of care in specialized centers and home care. The research results showed that parents spend time with theit children full, but do not feel state support. I concentrated on total client base, which I examined through interviews with employees in facilities. The interviews revealed that the facilities are better adapted to the interests of clients, they providing them more comprehensive care here. Although the parents adapt their life and home to their children, but it is not easy for them to find suitable and meaningful use of leisure time for their children. Parents met with state and society indifference. In Kutná Hora and its surroundings is not enough leisure acitivitie for adults and children with physical or multiple disabilities. My thesis could be used as a small probe into the problems of parents of children and adults with disabilities. This thesis I would like to provide social office that this issue deals in the Kutná Hora and its surroindings, due to improvement of this situation.
