The Fundamental Ethical Topics in the Authentic Letters of the Apostle Paul

This diploma thesis deals with the description of the ethical themes in the Apostle Paul's authentic letters. At the very beginning of the description and of the ethical themes analysis, there is the historical context and events in Saint Paul's life depicted - his missionary travels and the ethical issues of his time. Further, there is the basis of Paul's ethics explained. In the following third chapter, the main ethical themes are being described thouroughly, e.g. love, freedom or conscience. There are also such topics as marriage, sexual ethics or the moral life in church community. In the fourth chaprer, we can learn about the current Paul's ethical principles within the context of fellow feeling or love to women. In conclusion, there are Paul's ethical principles and connection between faith and sense summarized. The Law in the letters of the Apostle Paul This thesis is devoted to the Pauline understanding of the Mosaic Law. The first chapter describes the historic circumstances: the meaning of the word "Law" and the understanding of the Law in the Jewish tradition and in the early Christianity. The second chapter of this work analyses the most important passages of Paul's letters which deal with the Law or with other connected topics. In the third chapter Paul's conception of the Law is compared with the Jewish one. Finally, the Pauline conception of the Law is confronted with the understanding of the Law in the later texts of the New Testament.
The Lost and the Found as the Image of God's Love: Luk 15

This B.A. thesis 'Lost and Found as a symbol of God's Love: Lk 15' is focused on the interpretation of the 15th chapter of the Gospel of Luke, i.e. of the parables of the Lost Sheep, of the Lost Coin and of the Prodigal Son. Its aim is to reflect on the essence of God's love as expressed in these three parables. The first part describes the general information concerning Luke's Gospel, the second explains a genre of parable on a general level, the third describes the common framework of the three parables and the remaining sections are focused on the particular parables in detail. The largest space is devoted to the Parable of the Prodigal Son, which is split into three main sections according to main characters. The Image of the Apostle Peter in the Work of the Evangelist Luke. This thesis focuses on examining the character of the leader of the group Twelve in the work of Luke the Evangelist. Introduction outlines the baseline of the entire treatise. The first part of the chapter presents information on the author of two New Testament writings himself, followed by an indication of the circumstances under which the work was shaped. Afterwards the views of experts are presented on the possible sources from which the author composed and edited the final text. This part ends in effort to determine the expected place and time of origin of the whole work. The second part of the first chapter informs on the theology of Luke's writings. This part contains discussion of the authors' intentions and theological accents with regard to the first of the apostles. Due to more complex view there is also mentioned a statistical survey of the character Peter the Apostle in episodes of different New Testament books. The second chapter forms the backbone of the work, and again in two subsections presents information obtained by studying the available literature on all periscopes in Luke's diptych in which the leader of the Apostles emerges as one of the main characters. Diploma thesis with the title "The identity of the woman and its biblical roots" deals with the issue of personality of woman and makes a suggestion for the work of the spiritual leaders. Thesis also watches the relationship between man and woman, their common elements and differences, spirituality of woman and options how to grow in the relationship with God. The starting point are the biblical texts which are in relation with the theme. The presented study goes beyond Biblical studies and works with findings of other branches of theology, such as psychology or philosophy. Diploma thesis is devided into four chapters. First chapter is devoted to the creation, male- female principle of the human and attributes of womanhood of God. The second chapter follows selected biblical female characters. The third chapter sums the previous chapters up and presents the overall biblical image of women. The last, the fourth chapter is practical. It talks about the spirituality of woman, the progress of maturation of faith, about christian ways of the pastoral approaches and forms of woman spirituality.
New Testament Eschatology and Sources of Christian Hope

The thesis focuses on the eschatology of the New Testament writings, especially on those it's elements, in which the early church found it's hope. A question of transformation of Christian expectations due to the delayed parousia is questioned here; as well as related question of invariant gospel's elements on one hand and a set of it's historical origins on the other. A development of an early church hope is mapped through the compilation of author's thoughts linked to the Scripture and critically evaluated assertions taken up from other sources. Due to a significant depth of the theme, answers to some of it's sub­questions relies on the prevailing consensus, however, in those cases the author adds his own comment. The theme is described in a way of biblical texts or groups of biblical texts analysis. A Reconstruction of the Crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth from the Archeological Evidence and Ancient Literary Sources

The thesis A Reconstruction of the Crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth from the Archeological Evidence and Ancient Literary Sources deals in nine chapters with the crucifixion phenomenon. Due to its dual approach it is divided into two major parts - general and specific. General part firstly presents the latest scientific treatises dedicated to this phenomenon (1), afterwards introduces the only archaeological evidence of crucifixion (2), analyzes semantical span of terms related to crucifixion (3) and ultimately defines the crucifion penalty (4). Specific part deals with the events of Jesus of Nazareth's case following the pronouncement of judgement. Attention is firstly paid to the flogging penalty (5) and afterwards to the analysis of the royal mockery game (6). Further it focuses on the transition scene, mainly on search for topography of the Way of the Cross (7). The Golgota chapters initially pay attention to the psychological abuse, perception of the crucifixion punishment, resemblance of Jesus' cross (8) and afterwards to the physical abuse and the search for causes of Jesus' death from the medical point of view (9). Aim of this diploma thesis "The Vocation of the Apostle Paul: Exegesis and Theological Aspects of Acts chs. 9, 22, 26 and Gal 1" is briefly present historical data of the Apostle Paul, present his personality. Especially it is concentrating on his conversion and vocation and New Testament texts that refer about this events (Acts chs. 9, 22, 26 and Gal 1). Part of this work is to analyze four reports of Paul's vocation. Thesis points on difference or conections between them. The thesis exposes vocation in context of biblical theology and symbol of light. This diploma thesis attempt to present St. Paul's personality and to show his merit for present. MARRIAGE AND CELIBACY IN CHRIST ACCORDING TO 1 CORINTHIANS 7. The aim of this thesis is to show the light which in Jesus Christ newly illuminated two forms of human life: the married life and the celibacy. Thanks to the comparison of the Christian understanding of marriage and celibacy, as they are described in the New Testament, with the understanding of these forms of life in the Hellenistic world and in Judaism it gets to a differentiation of the accents typical for the period from those that are essentially Christian. A special emphasis is put on the seventh chapter of the First Letter to the Corinthians. By putting the message of this chapter about marriage and celibacy into the context of the whole Scripture and tradition of the Church, the thesis pursues another goal - i. e. a Catholic interpretation of the words of the Apostle. The chapter in question was many times in history explained as a glorification of virginity, while the interpreters often ignored the impact of this one-handed accent on the self-confidence of the Christian married couples. The second aim of this thesis is to find a conciliatory interpretation of the words of the Apostle even for the married couples, so that the maximalism of the Christian endeavour for sanctity is preserved.
