Historical Development of Pharmacy Practice in the Region of Litoměřice

Title of diploma thesis: Historical Development of Pharmacy Practice in the Region of Litoměřice Object and purpose of this thesis is an effort to capture the defining features of the historical development of pharmacy in Litoměřice region since ancient times to the present. The problems of pharmaceutical development are observed in close contact with the ups and downs, in general, the specifics of the historical development of the city and surrounding region. It is considered in the meantime in close connection with the major developmental milestones in the health field. The thesis focuses on a chronological description of pharmacies in Litoměřice. The final section is devoted to changes in pharmacy since 1989 and to the current state of pharmacies.

Entry to the history of pharm.industry V. ? Company Remed.

Subject of the thesis: Contribution to the history of the pharmaceutical industry, namely the medicinal products of Remed company; registration of a part of medicinal products collection of the Czech Pharmaceutical Museum in Kuks. Aim: Search and study of archival and other documents to learn and map the history of Remed company, including elaboration of a summary of medicinal products manufactured by the said company from its establishment in 1919 till nationalization in 1946. Registration and filing of a part of medicinal products collection of the Czech Pharmaceutical Museum. Methods: Processing of historical written and material sources from the Czech Pharmaceutical Museum in Kuks, central archives of Zentiva a.s., National Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments in Prague, journals, and literature. Results: Relatively detailed and extensive description of the history of Remed company, including the documentary photographs of the medicinal products. A table with a summary of both registered and OTC medicinal products of the company, placed on file from the inventory number 4,498 to 4,993, i.e. the overall number of 495 medicinal products. Title of diploma thesis: Pharmacy in the region of Usti and its changes in the time Background: Objective of this diploma thesis is taking down outlines of the historical development of pharmacy in the town of Ústí nad Labem from the beginning up to now. The development of pharmacy is following in context of historical development of the town and surrounding region. At the same time there is a connection between principal termini of health service and historical development of pharmacy. This thesis deals with chronological description of particular pharmacies in the town of Ústí nad Labem. The last part is concerned with changes of pharmaceutical service after 1989 up to this date. This thesis also deals with pharmaceutical and chemical industry, its development and changes in time. Social and Clinical Pharmacy Department Pharmaceutical Fakulty in Hradec Králové The Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic Subject of my thesis: Historical development of the pharmaceutical work in the hospital Na Františku in Prague. Aim: To describe the history of the pharmacy and its activities from the start until today. Methods: Elaborating historical documents from the National Archive in Prague, the Czech Pharmaceutical Museum in Kuks, the Prague City Museum, the City Library of Prague, interviews with contemporaries and other thesis. Results: The history of the pharmaceutical work in the hospital Na Františku is connected especially with the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God, who came to Prague after the battle of the White Mountain in December 1620. The pharmacy was probably grounded in 1624. Since that time, the pharmacy had been working without a break until 1941 when it was converted into a German military hospital. It was in 1945 when the pharmacy was renewed again. In the beginning of 1950 it was nationalized and became a part of a state company Medika. Title of doctoral thesis: Contributions to the history of the pharmaceutical industry, marketing and advertising in the Czechoslovak Republic in 1918 - 1938 Doctoral thesis "The history of the pharmaceutical industry, marketing and advertising in the Czechoslovak Republic in the years 1918 - 1938" explores the origins and development of pharmaceutical marketing, with a focus on one component of the marketing mix namely advertising. The thesis is divided into chapters that deal with the origins and development of the pharmaceutical industry, describing the formation of companies Interpharma and Druvet, describes fundamental elements of the marketing mix. The thesis also discusses basic elements of the marketing mix such as a medicinal product, pricing and promotion. Title of Doctoral Thesis Rationalization in the Czechoslovak pharmacy practice in the 20th century In the 20th century, the efforts to the development and application of rationalization and standardization approaches were observed in the Czechoslovak pharmacy. They were, among others, reflected in the founding of institutions which dealt with given issues. Between 1920s and 1930s, there was the group for pharmacy in the Commission for Rationalization and Standardization in Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, and Pharmacy (FS RANOK) and from 1955 to 1992, there was the Pharmaceutical Development Centre (RLS). So far, however, there is no current work from the pharmacy history focusing on those institutions in detail. The aim of the doctoral thesis was to focus on the phenomenon of rationalization of Czechoslovak pharmacy in the previous century and its institutionalized form. Social and Clinical Pharmacy Department Pharmaceutical Faculty in Hradec Králové The Charles University in Prague Objective: Capture, create and bring to the public as comprehensive as possible view on the development of pharmacy in the defined region of Frýdek-Místek after 1989. Used methods: study and analysis of scientific literature dealing with the history of Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic, especially the historical development of pharmacy in our area. Study of sources and literature on the issue of changes in all spheres of society after 1989 with an emphasis on the transformation of health care. Study materials deposited in the Municipal Archives in Frýdek-Místek, in the Research Library in Ostrava and the Czech Pharmaceutical Museum Kuks. Part of the methods used were the creation of questionnaires designed to obtain specific data and information from witnesses, which then was followed by targeted interviews with pharmacists and pharmacy staff.
