Management of Amateur Bands in the Czech Republic

The objective of this thesis is to sum up the existing knowledge in the field of management of amateur music bands in the Czech Republic, to describe and analyse non-artistic processes of bands and to specify key elements for successful functioning of bands. The existing knowledge is summed up in each chapter and confronted with author's personal experience and interviews with amateur bands originated from Ostrava region. Functioning of the band Sapien is analysed in a case study at the end of the thesis. Both the interviews and author's personal experience show that amateur bands do not engage sufficiently in dealing with their members' motivations, overall band vision and marketing as well, especially in the target audience analysis. The thesis provides resources for amateur band managers in the bands' key activities.
