Transient effect at the output of a continuous-time LTI second order system controlled pulse-width modulation
Petera, Martin ; Richter, Miloslav (referee) ; Jura, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to determine the size of overshoot produced at the output of a linear continuous second order system controlled by pulse width modulation depending on the period and duty cycle of the modulation and system parameters. This thesis contains analytic calculation of the size of overshoot produced at the output of the second order system with damping ratio > 0, except the damping ratio equals to 1 (i.e. both underdamped and damped system) depending on period and duty cycle of the modulation. This thesis also includes a comparison of partial analytic results to numerical simulation in Matlab program and also with measurement at second order system model.
Transient effect at the output of a linear dynamic system controlled pulse-width modulation
Petera, Martin ; Richter, Miloslav (referee) ; Jura, Pavel (advisor)
The goal of this work is to determine the size of overshoot produced at the output of a linear continuous second order system controlled by pulse width modulation. This work contains the calculation of the output signal response of the system in the time domain using the Laplace transform. The calculations of the amplitude of the output signal based on the pulse width modulation and system parameters are performed in this work. Finally the possibilities was given to determine the suitable period of pulse width modulation for required ripple. All the important calculations were compared with the simulations in the MATLAB-SIMULINK program and with the measurement at the real inertia second order cell.

Comparison of Distributed "No-SQL" Databases with an Emphasis on Performance and Scalability
Petera, Martin ; Šlajchrt, Zbyněk (advisor) ; Pavlíčková, Jarmila (referee)
This thesis deals with NoSQL database performance issue. The aim of the paper is to compare most common prototypes of distributed database systems with emphasis on performance and scalability. Yahoo! Cloud Serving Benchmark (YCSB) is used to accomplish the aforementioned aim. The YCSB tool allows performance testing through performance indicators like throughput or response time. It is followed by a thorough explanation of how to work with this tool, which gives readers an opportunity to test performance or do a performance comparison of other distributed database systems than of those described in this thesis. It also helps readers to be able to create testing environment and apply the testing method which has been listed in this thesis should they need it. This paper can be used as a help when making an arduous choice for a specific system from a wide variety of NoSQL database systems for intended solution.
Spam, abuse of email and options of protecion
Daněk, Tomáš ; Luc, Ladislav (advisor) ; Petera, Martin (referee)
The thesis deals with unsolicited mail known as spam. Its main goal is to present the most widely used current methods of protection against spam and their practical application to achieve the highest possible efficiency. This study aims to find the optimal combination of protection for regular electronic mailbox. In the first part is discussed the history, reasons for the emergence and expansion of mass spam. Furthermore are introduced different types of spam, which differ with their purpose and also their dangerousness. At the end of the first part are presented global statistics for the year 2009, along with estimated total annual cost devoted to fighting spam. Mentioned are the current trends and possible future development of spam. In the second part are presented in detail various widely used methods of protection which vary in principles of operation. Their common goal is reducing the number of spam messages received to the minimum. Also their advantages, disadvantages and pitfalls of their use are analyzed. At the end of the thesis is presented a practical application of those mentioned protections in a particular case. The main contribution of the work should be limitation of received spam to a minimum and reduction of the risks associated with it based on knowledge of techniques and practices used by spammers.
