Ioannou, Christos ; Nedělka, Michal (referee) ; Palkovská, Jana (advisor)
TITLE: Music as a medium for the rapprochement of the two communities in Cyprus SUMMARY: Special interests, power and money once again arise to keep our island divided. The simple people of Cyprus who used to peacefully live together a few decades ago have lost their trust bringing sadness and desperation to the island. In order to create a climate of trust between the two communities, music and art could rapidly build bridges of rapprochement and peace. The collective Cypriot pasts can teach us a lot. Accordingly in this specific project we would like to identify the music relations between Greek and Turkish Cypriots during the period before and after independence in 1960. History has much to teach us, how people were harmoniously creative and the power of art and especially music could bring the two communities closer. Is music utilized to such an advantage today? Could music be a strong tool for conciliation especially for new generations? KEYWORDS: Coexistence, build peace, reunification, musIc correlations, Cyprus, Greek and Turkish Cypriots, cooperation, interviews, education, bi-communal, rapprochement.
Albanian Music Culture with a Focus on the Art of Piano Teaching System and Plays the Piano
Prifti, Egli ; Gregor, Vít (referee) ; Palkovská, Jana (advisor)
Albania is a country where western and eastern culture is naturally mixed. This characteristic is notable in all kinds of Albanian art. The piano came to Albania at the end of the nineteenth century and was till the sixties of the twentieth century mostly used as an accompanying instrument. In 1962, thanks to the opening of the Conservatory of Tirana, the piano became a concert instrument, and by the seventies it was considered a highly preferred instrument in Albania. The Communist era can be esteemed as the most important period for Albanian piano literature. Considering that the aim of this study is to make an introduction to the Albanian music by focusing on piano music, a considerable part of this diploma thesis deals with the Communist period of the Albanian history (1945 - 1990). Because of the word limit of this diploma thesis, only an overview to the Albanian music and a general analysis of the Albanian piano literature is introduced.

My diploma thesis focuses on the issue of instructive piano methodology. My aim was to introduce Klavírní školička (The Piano Method for Children), four parts of Nová klavírní škola (The New Piano Method) and its addendum "Od peřinky ke školičce a ještě trochu dále..." (From the cradle to the teaching method for infants, and a little further...) as a complex piano method that encompasses the stage from a three-year old child up to the secondary phase of elementary art school, using the lates methodic approaches. I have analyzed methodic approaches in the individual parts and compared the piano method with three other selected piano methods. My selection thereof was based on the frequency of use in Czech art schools (past and present), and on the methodic approach. The practical section consist in the questionnaire circulated among teacher in musical art schools in Zlín, concerning their experience with the Nová klavírní škola method.
