Analysis of the perception of chords in a space with different reverberations
Adamkovičová, Lenka ; Musil, Jaroslav (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis is dealing with an analysis of subjective perception of chords in spaces with different reverberation parameters. An algorithmic reverb with 5 different settings of parameters was used on 32 chords or intervals created by either additive synthesis or from sampled real instruments. The modified sounds were then judged on 5 different bipolar scales by 100 respondents in a listening test. The goal of this work was to find the influence of reverbs with different parameters on perception of dissonance, pleasantness, roughness, and timbre of individual chords. Survey results were then plotted in graphs, in which they were compared to each other.
Analysis of the spectrum of cymbals and their time envelopes
Adamják, Adam ; Musil, Jaroslav (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
This Bachelor Thesis deals with the analysis of idiophones, the description of the measuring chain, and the analysis of the spectrum and time course of the measured samples. Based on spectral analysis, individual parameters and influences on the sound of cymbals were evaluated, such as the location of the blow or the type and hardness of the drum sticks. The theoretical basis also deals with the basic theory of the sound signal to the issue of noise and psychoacoustic perceptions. The conclusion deals with the basic mechanical properties and puts them into context with spectral analysis.
Analysis of Spectra of Electric Guitars Made of Various Materials
Zezulová, Eliška ; Musil, Jaroslav (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
Bachelor‘s thesis focuses on the spectral analysis of two electric guitars. The Cort X-6 electric guitar is used for harder genres of music. The second Fokus-H Strat guitar is more of a rock-universal type of instrument. The work deals with the spectrums of tones using various guitar pickups and analyzes them with the use of psychoacoustic measurements in the perception of timbre. It examines variations in the sound spectrum when there’s a manipulation with tone and gain controls. The measured values of the tone control are divided into thirds of the potentiometer range. The volume has been halved. The following is a look at the change of sound spectrum when using a harder plectrum. The end of the work is devoted to the difference in colors of two tones that were recorded under the same conditions. Their difference lies in the way of holding the neck of an electric guitar.
The Innovation of clarinet bell using Bessel functions
Kudělka, Josef ; Musil, Jaroslav (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis focuses on the comparison of the influence of clarinet bells on its final spectrum and directional characteristics. It compares the original bell with other bells designed using Bessel sound pipes and made of ABS plastic. It also investigates the principles of tone formation and the necessary theoretical basis.
Analysis of Resonance Cabinets of Different Types of Acoustic Guitars
Juhaščik, Lukáš ; Musil, Jaroslav (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
Bacherlor‘s thesis deals with spectral analysis of guitar body. The aim of the study is the place of resonantion modes at whole body, its frequency and the impact to the final sound.
Psychoacoustic Perception of Equal Instrumental Chords Distributed Differently in Stereo
Juren, Vojtěch ; Musil, Jaroslav (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
This thesis deals with psychoacoustic perception of equally instrumented chords distributed differently in stereo. Also this thesis deals with psychoacoustic perception of unequally instrumented chords distributed differently in stereo. The thesis shows what is psychoacoustic perception, according to what is sound color determined, how does masking work between sounds and for people. Next, it shows examined chords which were differently distributed in stereo. These chords were listened by 72 listeners. They did, according to given scale, evaluate intelligibility of instruments within the chord where every individual tone was played by different instrument. The instruments were categorized into three categories according to their creating higher harmonic components. Also, the listeners evaluated intelligibility of the chords. The data were evaluated with help of psychoacoustic method called semantic differential and the results were set.
The analysis of psychoacoustic perception of chords composed from different full and variously colored signals
Vejmělka, Daniel ; Musil, Jaroslav (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
This thesis is dealing with the impact of frequency spectrum of musical sounds on psycho-acoustical perception of the listener. It studies how differently filled harmonic spectrums can influence listener’s ability to determine individual notes in a chord and what influence, on recognizability of a chord, inharmonic elements have. It explores different methods of psycho-acoustic measurements and further data processing. The experiment is based on a method of paired comparisons and was realized in a form of listening test with more than 100 participants. The test is focused on typical representatives of different groups of musical instruments. It studies the impact of different colors of sound used in different types of chords. It further deals with statistical processing of the recovered data.
Analysis of Influence of Hardness and Alteration of Piano Hammer on Strength and Spectrum of Signal
Mikulášková, Aneta ; Musil, Jaroslav (referee) ; Jirásek, Ondřej (advisor)
The bachelor’s thesis deals with the analysis of the time-varying spectrum of sound of the piano series 125 and M 110 by PETROF and the influence of intonation on this spectrum. It analyzes the higher harmonic components in relation to the force applied to strings and the use of variously tuned hammers. Bachelor’s thesis observes the effect of the dynamics of keystroke and intonation on the pitch of the tone in its time and frequency plane and tone’s energy loss in relation with the dynamics. Further, the thesis describes the way of measuring and recording the captured tone samples and their subsequent processing and analysis in the application created in MATLAB development environment.
Psychology of advertising
Musil, Jaroslav ; Michálek, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis looks into one of the most used marketing mixes of tools, commercials. The main part explores the effect of commercials directly on the end-users, on their shopping behaviour and how it effects their decisions. The first, theoretical part focuses on analyses and defining of basic parameters of a psychological commercial which is needed for implementation of the research part. The research was done with the help of the questionnaires when questions both open and closed were asked. The second part of the thesis presents the outcomes of the research, for the purpose of which were selected the aim groups like children and their parents. For higher objectivity two types of questionnaires were used, separate for children and parents. Based on the gained data it was detected that both children and parents are effected by commercials. One outcome of the questionnaires is that children do not realize the effect of the advertising, while their parents are aware of its effects on them.
High-speed rail in France within the scope of low cost railway companies
Musil, Jaroslav ; Zelený, Lubomír (advisor) ; Cveček, Jiří (referee)
The Master Thesis focuses on development of high-speed rail in France within the scope of low-cost rail companies. The theoretical part describes the process of formation and development of French railways since the beginning of 19th century. It also discusses reasons leading to the creation of high-speed rail and different rail routes and also organizational structure of the company SNCF. Within analytical part, it describes researched types of transport and different groups of passengers. In the last part of the paper, with a help of multicriterial analyses, the most suitable type of transport on a certain route for each group of passengers is chosen.
