Measuring burden of formal caregivers in nursing homes

This dissertation presents a description of the concept of the formal caregiver's burden (for the purposes of this thesis it is the profession of a professional caregiver in direct care in a nursing home) and their possible measurement through the chosen theoretical and methodological tools. One of the research aims is to explore the characteristics of the formal caregiver in nursing homes in the Czech Republic, which may entail potential burden, stress and other attributes affecting the quality of work life. The dissertation is divided into a theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part, the basic terms such as formal caregiver and formal caregiver burden are first defined and characterised, which sets the chosen subject in a theoretical-conceptual framework. It is followed by a detailed description of the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), the Areas of Worklife Survey (AWLS) and the Professional Care Team Burden (PCTB) measuring instruments, which form the core element of the used methodology. Meeting the needs of elderly in the respite residential care

The bachelor's thesis deals with fullfilling the needs of the elderly in residential respite services, with a focus on activation activities. The first chapter of the theoretical part of the bachelor's thesis is devoted to the topic of old age and ageing, describing the changes on different levels that are associated with the ageing process. The second chapter turns attention to human needs and motivation, the theories of motivation and needs according to H. Murray, A. Maslow, V. Frankl are represented here. The thesis pays significant attention to A. Maslow's theory of needs and his pyramid of needs, which is an important link of the entire bachelor's thesis. The third chapter describes activation activities for the elderly and there is a description of selected activities that can be used when working with elderly. The last fourth chapter of the theoretical part informs about the characteristics and mission of the given social service. The bachelor's thesis deals with fullfilling the needs of the elderly in residential respite services, with a focus on activation activities. The needs of seniors diagnosed with dementia from the point of view of workers in a Home with a special regime

The bachelor thesis deals with the needs of seniors diagnosed with dementia from the perspective of social workers. The theoretical part focuses on the definition of the age of old age, a description of the types of dementia in old age, the theory of needs according to A. Maslow and according to Maxe-Neef. In the practical part of the bachelor's thesis, I focus on the needs of seniors with dementia according to how social workers detect them. The practical part of the work is solved through qualitative research with the help of semi-structured interviews with employees of one Home with a special regime. The aim of my work is to find out what needs the staff of the Home with a special regime perceive in different groups of seniors and how they evaluate their ability to meet these needs in their clients.
Quality of care in a retirement home as perceived by employees and by clients

(in English): The bachelor's paper deals with the perception of the quality of care in a home for the elderly according to the employees and clients. It compares the needs, priorities and suggestions for improving the care from the clients with the staff's awareness of these needs, priorities and suggestions. The aim of this work is to find out how the clients perceive the quality of the care provided and whether the staff's assessment corresponds to the clients' assessment. The theoretical part contains a description of the developmental period of life, which is aging and old age, as well as a description of the quality of life and the needs of the elderly. It is followed by a description of the home for the elderly and a list of services provided. The practical part consists of a research investigation conducted in an agreed home for the elderly, using the method of guided interviews with the clients and staff.
