Title: Numerical modelling of vocal folds Author: Mgr. Bc. Jakub Michálek Department: Geophysics Department Supervisor: RNDr. Jakub Velímský, Ph. D., Geophysics Department Abstract: I created a 2D model of vocal fold oscillations driven by interaction with fluid flow (FSI model). I used the theory of finite strains of the structure. The flow was modelled as a viscous incompressible fluid. The numerical problem was solved by the finite element method (FEM) with the arbitrary Lagrangian- Eulerian (ALE) method. The model shows the regime before phonation without the contact of the vocal folds and the states that directly lead to the contact of the vocal folds. I compared the time dependence of the quantities measured at sensors attached to the folds. I measured the frequency characteristics and compared the results with the modal analysis. Consequently, I calculated a parametric study of the dependence of the oscillations on the inlet air velocity, the original distance of the vocal folds and the elasticity of the vocal folds. The parametric study confirms that a sufficient increase of the inlet air velocity and a sufficient constriction of the glottis lead to the phonation onset. The parametric study also shows that changing elastic parameters has a similar effect on the spectrum for both the FSI model and the modal...
Obligatory publication of information

Duty to Publish Information (Abstract) I chose as my topic the obligation to publish official records, its legal grounds and connections with other areas. The analysis includes practical aspects and takes into account rapid changes in technology and the much slower development of ad- ministrative law institutes. In this frame I wanted to develop a procedural plan to make the public authority fulfill its duty to publish information, using legal means. I chose as my topic the duty to publish records, since I believe it to be the easist, most economical and effective way to make public records available to the citizens. This is currently a hot political topic, since new legislatation is being prepared in this area both in the Czech Republic and in the European Union, which is a response to the rapid technological progress. Nevertheless, the jurisprudence has devoted much less attention to the obligation to publish information than to disclosing the records upon a request to an individual. The thesis is divided to introduction, theoretical part, practical part and conclusion. The theoretical part deals with both the general regulation and with selected spe- cial cases of disclosure in domestic, EU and international regulation. I analyze and structure the legal regulation of mandatory publishing of records under...
2D finite element formulation of elastic string vibrations with large displacements
Michálek, Jakub ; Horáček, Jaromír (advisor) ; Matyska, Ctirad (referee)
The thesis addresses the numerical solution of the oscillation of the vocal fold at finite strain, whereas the literature has so far been concerned with infinitesimal strain only. The geometry concerned corresponds to the easiest situation of falsetto, since we observe an isolated vocal fold. The vocal fold is treated as non-linear and non-isotropic continuum in 2D space. To demonstrate the function of the model, we simulate the behaviour of the vocal fold with the linear constitutive equation numerically. The vocal fold is modelled by the finite element method with quadratic elements for static and dynamic surface load. We show that a proper simulation of vocal fold tissue deformation requires the equations with finite strain term. Numerical simulation of the vocal fold can be used e.g. for the construction of artificial vocal folds, and for the optimization of their function. Understanding the phonatory mechanism is also essential for discovering the causes of the disorders such as the vocal nodules and for the scientific foundation of phoniatrics and education of singers. The thesis is interdisciplinary and synthesises the facts from mechanics of continuum, anatomy and education of singers.
Economic analysis of voidability in the new civil code
Michálek, Jakub ; Dušek, Libor (advisor) ; Pekárek, Štěpán (referee)
This paper makes an economic analysis of juridical acts and contracts voidability under the new Czech civil code (Act no. 89/2012 Coll.) with focus on differences between absolute and relative voidability. The essence of the analysis is to estimate and evaluate the impact of the civil code on subjects' behaviour before and after entering into a contract, in particular their motivation to void the contract, and the costs imposed upon the parties under the contractual relationship. Outcomes of the analysis show that voidability lowers utility and creates incentives for opportunistic behaviour. Furthermore, we show that in some cases, voidability can be justified as economically effective means of preserving legitimate interests of one of the parties, in those cases, relative voidability should be preferred, however. The conclusions of this paper can contribute a new perspective on law during interpretation and application.
Analysis of purchasing conditions and customers behavior in selected town
Michálek, Jakub ; Průša, Přemysl (advisor)
In theoretical part describes this thesis retail network and current trends in sales of fast moving consumers goods, especially grocery. The practical part interprets amenities of the city Hradec Králové with these shops, which are compared to each other according to predetermined criteria. Furthermore, is the thesis analyzing customer behavior, which was investigated by questionnaire survey.
