Assessment of current status, historical research and design of reconstruction of selected parts of the park at Research Institute of Crop Production in Prague

The goal of the presented diploma thesis is to propose a reconstruction of a selected part of the Research Institute of Crop Production (RICP) in Prague (Czech Republic). The proposition is based on an evaluation of the current state as well as on a historical investigation of the studied area.
The 5ha compound of the RICP is situated at the territory of Prague, the Capital City in the Prague 6 - Ruzyně quarter. The complex is from three sides surrounded by fields. Inside, it includes a decorative garden, which was founded in 30ies of the 20th century. At that time, the function of such garden was of a pure educational purpose - it was used as visual aids for students of the Provincial Pomological Institute that had been located there. This exact utilization lies behind the important amount of rare decorative woody plants that we still find there. The premises are currently in a good state. More than half of woody plants rank among the most valuable and very valuable ones. Nowadays, the area of the RICP is not accessible for the public so that the garden can be used only be the employees of the institute.
Based on source data, a proposition of the reconstruction of the central part, which includes the main building and its surrounding decorative garden, has been created. Even if this part should be the most representative of the RICP, the related (required) atmosphere is not currently reached. This is the reason why a reconstruction has been proposed - to increase the actual level of the studied area and to restore its original function.
The main idea consists in preservation of the current vegetation cover and in restoration or addition of some technical elements, which are nowadays not satisfactory. This includes mainly: path surfaces, pergola, benches, waste bins and lamps. An extra enrichment of the free grass area, situated in the central part of the garden and visible from the entrance to the building, is also dealt with.
In addition, the diploma thesis provides a photographical documentation of the current state of the studied area, inventory tables and graphical supplements of the reconstruction project as well as the inventory plans of the whole area.

Inventory of woody plants in a part of the CULS area, elaboration of the digitized map and a draft of reconstruction of its selected part

A topic of this Bachelor thesis is reinventory of woody plants of University of Life Sciences grounds that is located in Prague Czech Republic. The Universitys literary part is based on reputable authors and the practical part is based on an inventory. This inventory is done by Machovec and his point of view on woods.
Maps from past students who made theses of this topic at the same place were used to target the species. For a smooth cooperation in this Bachelor thesis maps of changing buildings plan were applied. The main task was to reinventory all the species so it was necessary to check the woods and their location. The location was in the same state as the previous woods. Based on the research of this location the inventory of woods by Machovec had to be used. This method contained an evaluation of girth width crown and age landscaping values however in this Bachelor thesis the girth and age of bushes werent evaluated. The genus species and the cultivar had to be assessed if possible and the evaluated parameters for single trees were averaged.
The data of all the single trees were listed into inventory tables and set with unique codes for future recognition in the program. The whole practical part of the thesis was drawn in a program called AutoCAD version 2014. Once the inventory was done there was photographic documentation of the groups of trees which is available online on mapserver. The pictures are used for comparing a visual difference of the area in different seasons.
Drastic changes have occurred in certain parts of the area of my research. Probably the biggest change was in the building of new Courseware pavilions and its surrounding. The big change at Courseware pavilions was the reason why this research was necessary. Also it was very important to study all changes that were done in past four years that were connected with every single wood in other areas.
By the values given by the invenory tables was showed that there is 4079 trees in the area. Hardwoods are represented by 3319 woods and conifers are represented by 760 specimen. The most common in case of hardwoods is the Acer and from conifers its Pinus. By this enviroment the CULS areal makes great place for spending time in nature. The woody value is here on the third level and this means that there is prosperous viridity.

Inventory of woody plants in part area of Červený vrch in Prague and elaboration of the digital map of this selected area

In my bachelor thesis I'm dealing with inventory of part area of Red Hill in Prague. Inventory of this part area was carried out according to Machovec (1982). Further I made digital map of this part area and created photographs of all species.
In the literature search I'm dealing with function of greenery in urban environment, what effect it has on humans and their lives, importance of greenery and aesthetics.
The next chapter of my bachelor thesis is dedicated to part area of Red Hill in terms of history and progression of this part area, than continue with soil and climate conditions.
Further I'm delaing with methods and in which way are these species inventorized. I'm describing each measurement which are crucial for my thesis. Whole inventory was created by the system described in Machovec (1982). Further I made table inventory on the base of my measurement, which I divided by category to deciduous trees, conifers and evergreen shrubs, deciduous shrubs and perennials. I entered all the information in to the program AutoCAD and created digital map of part area of Red Hill. Photodocumentation was made for each of the species.
According to my measurements 1027 trees and perennials are located on the part area of Red Hill. Of which is 206 deciduos trees, 145 conifers and evergreen shrubs, 653 deciduous shrubs. Total amount of perennials is 23. The most common deciduous tree is Aesculus hippocastanum. The most frequent conifer is Picea abies and the most common deciduous shrub is Syringa vulgaris. The most frequent tree of part area Red Hill is Syringa vulgaris.
Furthermore according to my measurements I found out that the most common age category is from 20 to 40 years old and the most frequent handscaping value of three. From all these informations I made graphs which are visible in the next chapters of my thesis.

Assessment of current status, historical research and design of reconstruction of selected parts of the park Průhonice

Content of the diploma thesis is to design reconstruction of selected part of Park Průhonice based on evaluation of current status and historical research. The diploma thesis is continuation of bachelor thesis which was about inventorying of selected part. For needs of diploma thesis was this part expanded.
Theoretical part characterizes landscaped park and its history because Park Průhonice is realized just in this style. Furthermore there is issue of landscaped park recovery and vistas. Not least there are described principles of nature trails and its creation and requisites because one of trail was designed in investigated area.
Next chapter is dedicated to detailed evaluation of maps and based of it was created design of reconstruction. In the chosen part of Průhonice Park 1377 pieces of woody plants were re-inventoried, from those 435 deciduous trees, 816 coniferous trees and 126 bushes. According to the results of re-inventorying can be said that in investigated area is stable and valuable vegetation. Evaluation of woody plant was done according to the methodology of Prof. Ing. Jaroslava Machovce, CSc. (1982). It is worth to mention the specimen of rare trees and shrub which was main impulse to create nature trails.
Part of thesis includes photographs of the current status of the area taken in all four seasons, maps with designed solution of reconstruction and illustration of selected information boards.
The main idea was to create nature trails in investigated part which leads from "fan of vistas" to Labeška pond. Nature trail is created especially for student of schools focused on dendrology. These students should learn more about interesting and less known woody plants in this area at information boards. In Průhonice Park is placed many dendrologic rarities and is a pity to be known only by experts. This change can help to attract more visitors from the students to less frequented part of the park "Obora". The proposal of park includes a new furniture, renovated paths and corrected technical elements.

Assessing of the current situation, historical research and design of the reconstruction of selected area in "Průhonický park"

At this thesis, there was rated the current status of choosed part of Průhonický park near
Prague, based on inventory. Also there was realized historical exploration and detailed photodocumentation.
Then design was realized, based on these sources.
At the literature review, there were detaily solved history and rise of landscaped park.
Also, there were described recovery of historical gardens ways and conditions, Průhonický park
is one of them. Also, important composite elements were characterized for land "Fan of vistas",
concretely the vista and water surface reflection. At the end, there is descriptions of suburban
park and its functions, beacuse of Průhonický park is Prague suburban park.
Methodics for inventory was choosed according the Machovec, because I continue the
work, which followed this methodics. Historical survey was based on literary and map bases.
Also were described the natural conditions, which are necessary for future suggestions.
Re-inventory was based on previous inventories of this land. Results were put into
graphs, they are quality growth indexes. Felling suggestions was made, based on this inventory.
Ford felling are determined unpromising trees and trees which hind in vista.
In suggestions is planting of trees and perenials. Choose of trees was based on present
occurrence in park, also right in historical and placeble way. Also there was recovery of
furniture and road system. Road system was suggested with correct historical draff surface. The
furniture was choosed with respect of historical proporces. For upsurge this land was created
the pier at the pond shore and wooden road, instead of natural path.
These growths are very precious, so there were suggested informational tags with
information about trees, epecially by the road system.
At the end, there was made the budget.

Assesment of the recent estate of "Libosad" in CULS area and conception of its future utilization

The aim of the diploma thesis was to conduct an assessment of the current condition of the Libosad within the complex of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, and to create a concept of its future utilization. I chose this topic in relation to my bachelor thesis which dealt with re-inventorying of trees in the Libosad.
Based on the underlying data of the re-inventory, which are attached to this thesis,
and the inventories carried out during the years of 2010 to 2015, the project of its future utilization was compiled. Within the selected area, there are 7,715 individual items, while 1,115 of them are of a fruity character with the possibility of alternative uses (14%). Among the fruit trees, the Prunus genus is the more frequent with 15 items (65%), the genus
of Sorbus is represented by 3 items (13 %) and Malus by 2 items (9 %). Among the fruit deciduous shrubs, the complex mainly contains the bushes of the Rosa genus (237 items), then there is also a lot of bushes of the Chaenomeles (86 items) and Hippophae genera
(66 items). Moreover, there are also conifers with edible fruit, namely the species of Taxus baccata with 164 trees (64 %) and Juniperus communis with 92 trees (36 %).
The main vision of this project was to create an educational trail focusing on fruit trees with edible fruits. The goal of the proposal was to raise awareness of well-known as well as unknown wood species, and to point out their medicinal effects and manners of use. Such step should also increase traffic and awareness of the university arboretum. The concept
of the future utilization also includes a recommended list of the planting with edible fruits. In the case of 93 items of fruit trees to be planted, there would be an increase in the total amount
by 2 %.
When designing the educational trail, the matters would have to be addressed in great detail. A satisfactory company, which would ensure the delivery and installation
of educational panels, and a suitable supplier of specific tree species for the additional planting would both have to be chosen. In the final phase, 18 educational boards
with authentic line drawings and relevant texts were created, while also the route
of the educational trail was marked on the map. The economic balance was compiled
for the purposes of the implementation of the trail named Educational Trail: Perceive
the beauty with all senses and identify your fruit tree.
Within the thesis, a few charts were drafted to evaluate the current condition
of the vegetation from various points of view. Inventory tables, created in the Microsoft Excel program, form an integral part of the thesis. The diploma thesis also contains a map
of the educational trail and a map of the current condition of the trees, created
in the AutoCAD program, which are part of the thesis text and may be found on the enclosed CD. It also includes photographs on the website of mapserver.

Methodology for mapping and harmonization of indices, code lists, and controlled vocabularies applied in memory institutions

Poskytuje přehled metod, které při mapování a harmonizaci terminologických zdrojů lze využít a rovněž doporučený postup pro realizaci konkrétních záměrů v této oblasti. V konečném důsledku je také doporučením jak postupovat při integraci specifických terminologických zdrojů do znalostní databáze INTERPI a to i v případě, že tyto terminologické zdroje doposud nebyly reprezentovány pomocí žádného technologického nástroje.
