Pourová, Veronika ; Kudlová, Eva (advisor) ; Vysoká, Lenka (referee)
This bachelor thesis pursues the topic of the relationship between meeting the nutrition standards for Czech school dining system and final nutrition values of the meals. It also pursues, which types of food fulfill the consumer's basket the most. The theoretical section mentiones the rules of children's healthy nutrition in the age of 7-11 in terms of general and school eating habits. Laws relating to school dining system are also described. In the end of this section are mentioned projects that pursue the school dinig system in the Czech Republic. The practical section evaluates the proportions of macronutrients and salt content in school meals. It also evaluates the way of meeting the nutrition standads for school meals in 15 school canteens from 4 regions in the Czech Republic. The survey was accomplished by evaluating canteens' stock issue slips and comparing them to a statement of meeting the nutrition standards in 1 month. It was discovered that the macronutrient content doesn't match the rules of children's nutrition in most of the cases and that the salt intake from school meals is too high. It seems that the nutrition standards are at least in some part fulfilled by healthy food suitable for children. The use of fresh vegetable and fruit seems to be high. Also, there is still a place for...
Food intake of young children
Schimperková, Barbora ; Kudlová, Eva (advisor) ; Urbanová, Zuzana (referee)
Introduction: Early childhood is a critical phase for shaping basic eating behaviors and food preferences that impact an individual long-term physical and mental condition. A little child takes over eating habits from his or her parents and their improvement later in life is difficult. Methods: An analysis of eating habits of Czech children aged 12-23 months. The data was obtained in a cross-sectional retrospective questionnaire study. The questionnaires were completed by children's mothers addressed in public places. Results: Almost a quarter (24.4%) of mothers still breast-fed a child after his or her first year of life and the toddlers were fed at average 4.3 times a day. The average age of child when his or her mother stopped its breast-feeding was 8.5 months. The most frequent reason of weaning the child was a paucity or loss of breast milk. More than third (38.5%) of children received the non-milk fluids before the end of the 6th month. And approximately one-third (27.8%) of children obtained the non-milk food before the end of the 6th month. Toddlers got the meals at average 5.3 times a day. Most (83.3%) of mothers had no difficulties with children's feeding. The most frequent eating problem was pickiness. In 28.0% of families the parents let the TV turned on during the mealtime and 58.3% of...
The Maternal Nutrition during Pregnancy : Needs, Informedness and Possible Influences
Slámová, Alžběta ; Kudlová, Eva (advisor) ; Bartošová, Jitka (referee)
The issue of the nutrition of the population in the Czech Republic is a difficult one and it gets even more complicated if we are not concerning the population in general but only one part of it with specific needs, such as pregnant women. Several researches have shown that nutrition of pregnant women and fetal health may be closely connected and that the fetus could be affected by its mother's eating habits during pregnancy until the adult age. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first one, the longest, introduces theoretical findings in the field that are sometimes applicable as general principals of rational nutrition. This part of the thesis is used as a starting point for the other one, the empiric part. The empiric part contains the results of my own quantitative research based on the questionnaires inquiring about eating habits of pregnant women. One hundred fully filled-in questionnaires, containing questions about eating habits, drinking regime, nutritional supplements, nutrition knowledge of pregnant women and their sources of information, were collected. The aim of the research was to reveal typical pregnant women diet, the extent of adherence to general principles of pregnant women nutrition, an average amount of nutraceuticals taken daily and usual sources of information...
