TITLE: Novels of Božena Viková - Kunětická AUTHOR: Bc. Tereza Brzáková DEPARTMENT: Department of Czech Literature SUPERVISOR: prof. PhDr. Dagmar Mocná, CSc. ABSTRACT: This thesis is focused on the interpretation of novels writen by writer Božena Viková Kunětická. An important role in the interpretation of works plays context in which currency are the works built. Interpreting the works of contemporary issues is supported women's issues and the status of women in public and domestic spaces. The first part is the atmosphere of the period in terms of the women's movement. The second part is dedicated to the interpretation of four novels Božena Viková Kunětická. The main theme of novelistic creation is a woman in several different roles and perspectives on marriage, motherhood or adolescence. Interpretation of the novel creation of Božena Viková Kunětická closes its comparison with the writer Ružena Svobodová, which was devoted to his work in a similar topic. František Kožík's Biograpfical novels about Zdenka Braunerová Compared to the extant correspondence

BRAUNOVÁ, L.: František Kožík's biographical novels about Zdenka Braunerová compared to the extant correspondence /Master Degree Thesis/ Prague 2014, Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Education, Departement of the Czech Literature. This Master Degree Thesis compares Kožík's novels Na křídle větrného mlýna and Neklidné babí léto with the extant correspondence, which is used in different ways in both novels. The starting point was extensive research, which provided a precise undertanding of the author's intentions. The goal was to find out how the author forms the characters and their relationship using sources, especially the correspondence. At the same time this thesis delineates the difference between facts and fiction with an example of Kožík's novels.

Typology of chosen women characters in the Czech literature of the second half of 19th century

The diploma thesis deals with the typology of nine chosen literary women characters of the second half of 19th century Czech literature. The woman character from the Čtyry doby short story by Božena Němcová, Liduška and Lenka by Vítězslav Hálek, lady Ruska, miss Máry and the unnamed protagonist of the U tří lilií short story from Povídky malostranské by Jan Neruda, Caterina and lady Dragopulos from Jan Maria Plojhar by Julius Zeyer and Lucy from Magdalena by Josef Svatopluk Machar, are at focus. The theoretical part outlines the issues of literary styles of the second half of 19th century Czech literature (namely Romanticism, Realism, Parnasism). Also it delimits the extension of markers for interpretation of women literary characters and, moreover, it briefly presents the women social position in 19th century society. In practical part, the thesis aims to analyze thoroughly the chosen characters, trying to point out all the common features as well as the differences among them. The thesis concludes with the comparison of all chosen characters and, at the same time, it sums up the main changes in the depiction of a women literary character throughout the century.
