Perinatal Care in Czech Maternity Hospitals

The thesis deals with the current state of perinatal palliative care development in gynecological departments in the Czech Republic. This type of care is in development and its introduction presents a significant challenge for both professionals and general public. The objective of the theoretical part is to describe the current problematic of the given care in a way so that it is easily understandable for both layman and expert. It also aims to cover all aspects of the entire process of perinatal palliative care, meaning the stages of pregnancy (the developmental phases of a fetus), the period of viability (the complexity of assessing specific situations by professionals and their competencies and responsibilities), social aspects (the possibilities of support from state institutions and other organizations). In the empirical part, based on the professional literature the individual attributes of development of the given care are set and then their un/fulfillment is examined using quantitative method. During the research, 91 Czech department heads and chiefs of gynecological departments in the Czech hospitals were approached, with 17 respondents actively participating.
