Methods of carbon dioxide emission reduction
Mališ, Jan ; Kermes, Vít (referee) ; Bébar, Ladislav (advisor)
Master's Thesis is focused on production of CO2 from fossil fuels combustion and the methods of CO2 emission from fossil fuels combustion reduction, resp. pre-combustion and post-combustion separation of CO2. Recapitulation of world consumption of primary energetic resources and carbon dioxide production as a result of theirs combustion in years 1971 - 2006 was made using a number of information sources. Whilst combustion o fossil fuel is related with production of CO2, calculation of emission rate of CO2 from fossil fuels (natural gas, crude oil and coal) was demonstrated. The Case Study of energy and material balances of gas turbine cycle with synthesis of methane from CO2 and from hydrogen which is produced in water splitting was made, using CHEMCAD software.
Heating units for family houses - algorithm for selection
Reiter, Milan ; Vondál, Jiří (referee) ; Kermes, Vít (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the ways of heating for family houses. In the first part of this thesis are described the heat sources. The heat sources are diveded by type of fuel. In the next part of this thesis is a decription of claims for installation the heating source, the use of various fuels and chimneys. In the next part are descibed claims of an operation the heating sources. The fourth part deals with the algorithm for selecting a source of heat. Here is a description of each step of algorithm, which we need for selection of suitable heat source. In the last part of my thesis is made a presentation of the algorithm performed on a model family home. There are selected six types of heating in the house. At the end is chosen one, most economical type.
Treatment of nuclear waste in nuclear power plants and hospital facilities
Vitovská, Michaela ; Kermes, Vít (referee) ; Tabasová, Andrea (advisor)
The bachelor’s thesis at hand is aimed at issues related to formation, storage and processing of radioactive waste – the issues that are widely discussed and dealt with in media. The thesis is concerned not only with formation of radioactive waste in the Dukovany Nuclear Power Station, but also with emerging radioactive institutional waste that originates in hospitals predominantly during treatment of cancer. The thesis provides classification of wastes and description of how these wastes are handled in individual facilities. The thesis is based on findings and technical materials obtained during visits to specialized workplaces at the Dukovany Nuclear Power Station and the University Hospital Brno, the Department of Nuclear Medicine.
Combustion of renewable liquid fuels
Shylin, Ivan ; Skryja, Pavel (referee) ; Kermes, Vít (advisor)
The main task of the thesis is the survey of renewable fuels available in Czech Republic and in the world, and to compare them with present petroleum products. In the first part of the thesis important properties of the liquid fuels are defined along with corresponding national and international standards. In the next chapters petroleum and renewable liquid fuels are presented. The second part of the thesis is concentrating on atomization. In the conclusion there is a summarization of difficulties with renewable fuels.
Design of Energy Systems Using Hydrogen as Fuel
Slováček, Adam ; Kermes, Vít (referee) ; Houdková, Lucie (advisor)
The subject of diploma thesis is to gather knowledge in the production and use of hydrogen. This work is devoted to a comparison of the previously existing processes for producing hydrogen, where the vast majority is filled of fossil fuel. Another section is devoted to new materials for the study based on a number of selected patents and the experiment promising new method for decomposition of water. Based on available data will be carried out energy balance and consequently will be drafted energy system using hydrogen as fuel. In conclusion will be future possibilities evaluated in the field of hydrogen energy.
Combustion of renewable liquid fuels
Nejezchleb, Radek ; Skryja, Pavel (referee) ; Kermes, Vít (advisor)
This thesis is concerned with combustion of liquid biofuels, and possibility of using liquid biofuels for lower heat output power units. Overview of basic usable liquid biofuels in Czech Republic is executed in the beginning of the thesis. This part is focused especially on production method and energy effectivity of rape-oil methyl ester (RME) and bioethanol production. Overview of basic atomization method of liquid fuels is executed in next chapters. The focus is stressed on pneumatic atomization, especially effervescent atomization method, which was used in practical experiment. Practical part contains fossil fuel and selected biofuel (RME) combustion test executed on burner testing device. Basic combustion properties was found and test plan was made before executing the test. Various operating conditions are compared in terms of atomization quality, combustion quality and geometrical characteristics of flame. Usability of tested liquid biofuels for lower heat output power units is evaluated in the conclusion.
Testing of liquid fuels atomizers
Suchánek, Petr ; Skryja, Pavel (referee) ; Kermes, Vít (advisor)
This thesis is dealing with testing of two atomizers in combustion of liquid fuels and natural gas. There is a simple analysis of problems, principles and methods of atomizing liquids executed. Problem of pneumatic atomizing liquids is also described in detail. In the next chapters there is a plan and running of testing processed. Overall behavior of the atomizers and flame is evaluated from the outcome measurement and the power characteristics of atomizers and influence of GLR on the quality of combustion are determined. Overall rating of the testing is presented in conclusion this thesis.
Posibility exploitationplants in production of energy
Jansa, Oldřich ; Kermes, Vít (referee) ; Novotný, Pavel (advisor)
Bachelor dissertation deals with possibilities of plant utilisation in producing energy and presents individual technicalities of biomass processing. There is analysed potential usage of waste and purposely grown biomass and specifies production of individual biomass types. Furthermore it mentions model calculation of costs on heating and experiences of owners of heated houses.
Design of heat exchangers for high temperature applications
Jonák, Martin ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (referee) ; Kermes, Vít (advisor)
This thesis is devoted to thermal-hydraulic design and rating of heat exchangers with the specialized commercial software HTRI. These heat exchangers are solved for real high-temperature applications, where the hot fluid is a flue gas with high temperature (above 500 °C). In the thesis is made a brief analysis of the conventional design of heat exchangers usable for high-temperature aplications, description of the basic relations, description and brief user manual of software HTRI. Further, work includes a comparative study of methods for calculation of pressure drop of the fluid at 180° elbows, as support analysis for solution of required applications characterized by low pressure drop of process fluids.
Workshop for Handicapped Workers, Its Waste and Components Flows Specification
Wienerová, Veronika ; Kermes, Vít (referee) ; Novotný, Pavel (advisor)
The bachelors thesis deal with electric and electronic devices waste problematics. It describes portions of material from discarded electronic devices which are taken apart in protected workshop. Part of the thesis is dedicated to proposal of such workshop created based on available literature and my own experience gain during a few visits in similar workshops.
