Statistical analysis of the development of beekeeping in the Czech Republic and its prospects
Elizeus, Natálie ; Prášilová, Marie (advisor) ; Ivana, Ivana (referee)
The diploma thesis is focused on beekeeping in the Czech Republic and provides an overview of the development and level of this important agricultural field. The thesis is analyzing the development of selected indicators that had an influence on level of beekeeping in our country in the years 1993-2015. The indicators that the thesis is focused on are numbers of beekeepers and bee colonies, production and consumption of honey, honey export and import and drawing grants. The Czech Republic is aware of the need to support beekeepers through grants for the reason that bees are able to pollinate plants, which is welcome for the agriculture. Bees pollinate about 85 % plants and provide honey and other products such as pollen, royal jelly, propolis, wax and bee venom, which are primarily used in cosmetics, pharmacology and food (processing) industry. The results of analysis of individual indicators serve as a basis for the creation of trends. For selected indicators there are also set out forecasts for future development for two years ahead. The thesis also includes processing and interpretation of the survey that has been carried out among beekeepers. At the end of the thesis there are formulated possible perspectives of beekeeping field and there are also expressed suggestions and recommendations for further development of this sector.
Probiotic high-fat dairy products
Šebestová, Kateřina ; Potůčková, Miroslava (advisor) ; Ivana, Ivana (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis was to summarise the current knowledge about application of probiotic culture of microorganisms into high-fat food matrixes (dairy or non-dairy) and their potential for devolepment of probiotic cookies. Probiotics are defined as living microorganisms which provide specific health benefits when consumed in a certain amount. They could be consumed in the form of commercially available food with added value or as nutritional supplements. The most common strains of probiotic microorganisms used in food industry are lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus, Streptococcus, Bifidobacterium sp.) Their benefical effects include immunostimulatory, antibiotic, antihypertensive, hypocholesterolemic, anticarcinogenic, anti-allergenic and antidiabetic effects and decrease of lactose intolerance symptoms. As food carriers for probiotic strains of lactic acid bacteria were successfully tested some high-fat dairy or non-dairy matrixes. Non-dairy probiotic carriers with high potential include dressing and chocolate. However, the most common probiotic carriers are dairy products. Traditional are fermented dairy products, especially yogurt, quark and cheese. Increasingly popular are also probiotic ice creams. Probiotic strain Lactobacillus paracasei subsp. paracasei LBC 82 was successfully used for production of cream chocolate mousse. Unfortunately, studies which are focused on probiotic cookies development are currently not available. However, based on the available results about high-fat probiotic carriers, it could be presume that suitable matrixes for probiotic cookie filling would be cream, yogurt and fresh cheese. High potential has also chocolate in the form of chocolate chips, filling or glaze.

The flower beds were evaluated from April to December in 12 prescribed terms. The main parameters were total score, colour and structure of flower beds. Based on these parameters that were evaluated, the best mixture were of Český venkov I. Part of the thesis is also comparing perennials beds from various locations; Dermatological garden in Pruhonice and perennials nursery in Hlavenec. In Hlavenec the best evaluated mixture was Schattenglanz against Český venkov I from Pruhonice. Detailed photo documentation from observation is recorded in attachments
Interaction between tapeworm infection and heavy metals accumulation in the host
Magdálek, Jan ; Jankovská, Ivana (advisor) ; Ivana, Ivana (referee)
Heavy metals in living organisms occur in trace amounts. While zinc is an essential element wich is indispensable for many physiological processes, cadmium in body acts as atissue toxin, that can cause oxidative stress and contribute to cancer development. Recent studies suggest that some species of tapeworms (Cestoda) and Acantocephala are able to absorb in their tissue higher quantity of heavy metals in comparsion with their hosts. Moreover it was observed that In connection with the increased accumulation of heavy metals in the tissue of tapeworm was decreased amounts of these metals in the organs of the host. The aim of this thesis was to investigate whether the rat tapevorm (Hymenolepis diminuta) causes a decrease in the concentration of Cd and Zn in the organs of rats. A total of 24 Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) were divided into 4 groups (n=6). Groups PT and 0P take increased doses of kadmium (3,0 mg/week) and zinc (235,7 mg/week) for six weeks. This increased intake was achieved by adding Arabidopis halleri to feed. After six weeks rats were killed and concentrations in their tissues (bone, muscle, testes, spleen, intestine, liver kidney) were analyzed. Subsequent statistical tests confirmed lower levels of Cd and Zn in some organs of rats infected with tapeworm compared to rats without infection. For example in kidney, liver ant intestine of infected rats was detected 2,9; 2,5 and 1,8 times lower concentrations of cadmium and zinc in comparsion with uninfected rats. Tapeworm absorbed 1695 time higher amount of kadmium compared to the host muscle. The zinc content was lower in all organs (except spleen and testes) of infected rats in comparsion to uninfected. In kidney, liver and intestine of infected rats was 1,2; 1,25 and 1,4 times lower average concentration of zinc in comparsion with uninfected rats. The tape worm absorb higher concentration of zinc compared to all organs of the host.
