Comparison of Hans Kung and his work Global Ethics with the Civil Religion
Knotek, Daniel ; Hošek, Pavel (advisor) ; Hajko, Dalimír (referee)
This Diploma Thesis deals with two universalistic conceptions, represented by the Swiss Catholic Theologist Hans Küng and his work Global Ethics, and the Civil Religion. In the first part of my text, I bring in the personality of Hans Küng, his work, ideas and the book Global Ethics which received great acclaim on international forum, Churches and society. Küng draws up three basic theses: No world peace without peace among religions. No peace among religions without dialogue between the religions. No dialogue between the religions without accurate knowledge of one another. These theses express the need for a dialogue, being able to formulate viable visions of the future. In the second part of my work, I introduce a less known notion of the Civil Religion with its transformations and development throughout the history. It is a concept exceeding the border of sociology, political science, philosophy and theology, examining the formative processes of the society and its religious reference speech. It penetrates the academic discourse especially in the period between the 1960s and 1980s, as represented e.g. by the American sociologist Robert Bellah. In the third part of my text, I compare both the universalistic conceptions and try to find out where they intersect and in which respect each of them has...
Al-Andalus and Mozarabs
Jun, Tomáš ; Hošek, Pavel (advisor) ; Heryán, Ladislav (referee)
In my thesis I deal with the question whether we can consider the social system of al-Andalus as religiously tolerant. I represent al-Andalus, the Iberian state, dominated by Muslims of Arab and Berber origin between 711-1492. I focus on the reign of the Umayyad dynasty from the 8th to 10th century called "Golden Age". I want to show on Mozarabes ("arabized Christians"), that the present view of tolerance in al-Andalus is distorted by its own history of myth. I also deal with reference to al-Andalus in the present, both among Christians and Muslims. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Jesus in Quran and in Islamic tradition
Mironova, Kira ; Hošek, Pavel (advisor) ; Ort, Jakub (referee)
The purpose of my thesis is not just to understand who Jesus Christ was in Koran and what role he played, but also to show that he was an important and respeted person not just in New Testament but also in the main book of Islam - Koran. Nowdays when Islamic radicals get in Christian lands and show themselves as true muslims doing disaster, profane people have bad opinion regarding the whole Islam in general and not every man knows that there is even written about Jesus in Koran. That's why I find important to create some kind of dialog between Islam and Christianity, to show that the most important person of Christian religion, Jesus, is respected in Koran, being human being, and to explain why Islam can't allow to take Jesus as divine being. Of course I will mention Marie - mother of Jesus, who is another important person in Christianity and Islam and who can't be mother of God in Islam. The resons why Jesus can'b be Allah's son will be mentioned as well. And also I will use comparing analysis of Muslim and Christian Jesus for better understanding who muslim Jesus is and what mission for humankind he already brought and will bring in future. Kredba, Jan ; Hošek, Pavel (advisor) ; Bargár, Pavol (referee)
Bachelor thesis Moses in the Quran: Depiction of the Prophet Moses in the Quran Narrative and a Comparison with the Biblical Parallels is focused on the character of the prophet Moses, who is the most often mentioned individual in the Quran, holy book of Islam. In the beginning it deals with prophecy and prophets in the Islamic and Jewish tradition. Next, it analyses Quranic verses concerning the prophet Moses with help from the commentaries of Moslem scholars. This thesis also follows Biblical parallels to Quranic passages, especially in the book of Exodus, and lays out especially the differences emerging between both. Last but not least the thesis presents also specific Quranic motives that have no parallels in the Biblical text whatsoever. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Ivaschiv, Nicolai ; Noble, Ivana (advisor) ; Hošek, Pavel (referee)
The bachelor's thesis "The benefits and limits of democratization of mysticism of Dorothee Sölle" seeks to present the concept of democratization of mysticism of protestant theologian Dorothee Sölle and to suggest the benefits and limits of that theological concept. To achive this aim I decide to present her theological basics from the begining of hers work untill the end of her life. I show on her theological development which includes periods of theology of God's death, liberation theology and feminist theology a assumptions for the concept of democratization of mysticism, which is a part of her late book Mysticism and resistance. The book is a ideological basis for the main part of my thesis, which deals with topic of mysticism and civic activism. I will reflect on the concept of democratization in relation to political acting and mysticism. Mysticism acording to Sölle is open to everyone and it is not privilege of spiritual elites in any sense. At the end of the thesis I summarize a possible benefits and limits of this original theological concept.
Theological Challenges of Communication with and Providing Health Care for Muslim Worshippers
Hájek, Marcel ; Hošek, Pavel (advisor) ; Tydlitátová, Věra (referee)
The Muslim patient belongs, because of the necessity to respect traditions and teaching of Quran, to the most complicated religious challenges for physicians and health care providers of other denominations. It is so not only in the Muslim countries, where these experts are often hired to provide health care in medical care centres, but also in countries with a considerable Muslim minority. The author of this diploma work defined as his aim to clarify the complexity of health care with regard to rather distinctive limitations, often contradicting common diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, which stem from Islamic traditions, Islamic law and unneglectable attitudes of Muslim clerics. In his thesis the author attempts to a brief insight into the Islam with focus on orthopraxis of each Muslim, which accompanies him for the whole life, dividing the issue into the Muslim life phases and a broader Muslim family interests - see the work content. The author himself worked with Muslims for more than 15 years, out of which almost 10 years in Islamic countries (Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait and Pakistan) as well as in countries with strong Muslim population (Israel, Botswana, South Africa). In Basra (Iraq) he did Islamic Studies in English for two years, met many Muslim clerics and hundreds of doctors and other...
Human Rights in Islam
Pousková, Pavla ; Hošek, Pavel (advisor) ; Hájek, Matěj (referee)
Idea of human rights came from ancienit Greece. Rethought in renaissance period, accompain humankind to nowadays. Euro-atlantic civilization in his modern form is found on the idea of human rights. Maybe we not precieve them, because most of states in euro-atlantic region have human rights confirm in their constitutions. But they are, states which see human rights in different way. Most of them are patriarchalic systems, where not all citizens have same rights. It means we will discusse as a matter of priority about women. From euro-atlantic view this attitude is not correct. But there are some foundantions and red strand which accompain these states and civilizations. And that is what I would like to show in this work. Things which are same, that one which are different, and that one we can discusse. Keywords Human rights, euroatlantic civilization, islam, women
