Content of risk elements in food for dogs and cats
Hrabalová, Karolína ; Slavíková, Zuzana (referee) ; Diviš, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the determination of risk elements, namely mercury, arsenic, cadmium and lead in dog and cat food. The concentration of mercury was determined using the AAS technique, and the concentration of arsenic, cadmium and lead was determined by the ICP-MS method after microwave decomposition of the samples using mineral acids. A total of 30 feed samples were analyzed. In most samples, the concentrations of monitored elements were lower than the maximum permissible values given by the EU Commission Regulation, two samples did not meet the requirements of the regulation. The concentration of risk elements in the feed, except for arsenic, did not depend on the type of meat used in the feed. Feeds containing fish meat showed demonstrably higher concentrations of arsenic than feeds with other meats. Due to the relatively low proportion of meat in feed and due to the overall lower concentrations of risk elements in meat, it can be assumed that the vegetable or other component of the feed, or the technology of feed production, is responsible for the increased concentration of risk elements in feed.
The Process of Change in the Context of Physical Activities for Students ZSF and PF
HRABALOVÁ, Karolína
Topic of my bachelor thesis is The process of change in the context of physical activities for students of Health and Social faculty and Pedagogical faculty. This topic may sound unclear however in fact it deals with physical activities and their integration in the life of students who are studying selected faculties of University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. My thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is divided into five chapters. The first chapter deals with health in general and healthy lifestyle which includes physical activities. The next chapter is consisted of four subchapters. First of all, I try to explain not only the basic concepts associated with physical activity, but also why they are necessary for us. I mention elements which are different for humans and animals in case of physical activities. The first subchapter is focused on the division of physical activities with consideration of the splitting ways depending on different authors and sources. In the following section I focus on the clarification of the health benefits which bring us physical activity at any age, including the importance of primary prevention. I also deal with problems based on physical inactivity. Its appearance is currently very high. Among them there are cardiovascular disease which resulted in up to 50% of all deaths here in the Czech Republic and also globally. I also mention benefits of physical activities, these are very necessary for increasing the physical activity of individuals. In the third chapter I mention impact of physical activity on our psyche and how it can be used for preventing for example depression. The following chapter is in my opinion very important. In this chapter I try to illuminate the model of stages of motivational preparedness to change. This model is essential for my research. In conclusion I state influence of motivation on physical activities. The practical part of my work is devoted to my own research. The data was obtained by quantitative research strategy using an anonymous questionnaire. This questionnaire was taken from the publication of Psychology active lifestyle by authors Bess H. Marcus and LeighAnn H. Forsyth. The research sample was selected from students of ZSF and PF. I pushed questionnaire to respondents using the web form created on the server Disk Google. It is consisted of 47 questions divided into 3 thematic parts. First, I asked respondent for sex, age and faculty. The next part was composed of four questions aimed at finding stage of changes of physical activities. Next forty questions in the questionnaire were used to evaluate the change of process. Respondents in these questions assessed their behavior in a numerical scale from 1 to 5. The resulting data was assigned to the relevant factors promoting physical activity in the change process. The survey was conducted during May and June 2015. Electronic form of the questionnaire was distributed among the students through email and social networks. I have sent out a total of 350 questionnaires and 305 of them returned to me filled. The return was approximately 87%. The main goal of my thesis was to find out motivational readiness and stage of the changes by students ZSF and PF. I also found out which of factors supporting physical activities is dominant and whether there is difference in dominance of factors between individual faculties. For the research I have set two hypotheses. At the first hypotheses I assumed, there were statistically significant differences in motivational readiness and stages of change for students ZSF and PF. This hypothesis according to my research has not been confirmed. The second hypothesis was presuming the existence of statistically significant differences in the dominance of factors supporting physical activities among students ZSF and PF. This hypothesis has been confirmed
