Analysis of impact of direction distribution of collagen fibres in arterial wall on its mechanical properties
Fischer, Jiří ; Návrat, Tomáš (referee) ; Burša, Jiří (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to analyse literature with focusing on literature about directional distribution of collagen fibres. This knowledge is very important for computational modelling and FEM analysis of arterial wall. Comparison of suitability of different models of directional distribution of collagen fibres is made by fitting of different types of probability density functions. Impact assessment of different collagen fibres distribution on mechanical properties of the arterial wall and impact assessment of wall anisotropy is solved with finite element method. FEM analysis is done on three loading types – uniaxial tension, equibiaxial tension and inflation of artery by internal pressure. Output of this thesis is evaluation of results for various types of collagen fibres arrangement in arterial wall.
Evaluation of risk of buckling in columns with inaccuracies in geometry and load
Fischer, Jiří ; Fuis, Vladimír (referee) ; Burša, Jiří (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to analyse applicability range of relations for a critical load at buckling for columns with deflection from ideal column – initially curved column or eccentric load. The solution of this thesis is analytical and it comes from solving the differential equation of the deflection curve. This equation has different general solutions for both assumptions. The result achieved in this thesis is general recommendation for maximal values of eccentricity of load according to cross section. Next result is recommendation of maximum curve according to cross section. The chosen cross sections are circular, square, rectangular and thin tubes.
Computational modeling of arterial stents
Ondříšková, Tereza ; Hrubanová, Anna (referee) ; Fischer, Jiří (advisor)
This thesis deals with computational modeling of self-expandable and balloon-expandable arterial stents. The introductory part of the thesis is devoted to a brief overview of basic medical knowledge related to the circulatory system and cardiovascular diseases. Then, a review of constitutive models of soft tissues and arterial stents is processed, including their historical development, classification, and materials used for their production. An experimental tensile test of a nitinol wire is also included, based on which a constitutive model describing the behavior of shape memory alloys is selected. The main part is focused on the computational modeling of the interaction between an artery affected by an atherosclerotic plaque with a nitinol self-expanding stent and with a steel balloon-expandable stent. An analysis of radial displacements on the artery model wall and resulting stress states is carried out. Finally, these two approaches are compared in terms of the enlargement of the cross-sectional area of the given artery.
