Investigation of new anode materials for methanol polymer fuel cells
Fiala, Roman ; Sofer, Zdeněk (referee) ; Matolín, Vladimír (advisor)
We investigated new types of anode catalysts for polymer membrane fule cell (PEMFC). Pt doped CeO2 thin lms were deposited by rf-magnetron sputtering on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) directly grown on GDL by using CVD. We observed considerable increase of speci c power by 1000 times and more in comparison with standard PtRu anode catalyst. For this new anode system we obtained the speci c power of 44.3 W/mg(Pt). The interaction of Pt with CeO2 layers with di erent substrates was investigated by using photoelectron spectroscopy. The results showed that platinum was in cationic state and the Pt2+/Pt4+ ratio was dependent of substrates materials. We also demonstrated that the performance of direct methanol fuel cell with Pt and PtRu catalyst can be dramatically increased simply by adding sodium hydroxide to methanol fuel. Cell voltage and power output characteristics were studied in dependence on current, temperature and concentration of sodium hydroxide. Endurance test was performed and the fuel cell exhibited stable response. Power density of 80.7 mW/cm2 was recorded for 2 M methanol/2 M sodium hydroxide fuel 30řC.
Financial Analysis of a Firm HOTEL, Ltd
Němcová, Barbora ; Hajdíková, Taťána (advisor) ; Fiala, Roman (referee)
Thesis "Financial analysis firm Hotel, Ltd." is aimed at assessing the financial situation of the company for the period 2012-2015 on the basis of basic information about the company and the data from the financial statements. In this work are used basic financial analysis methods such as analysis of absolute, differential and ratios. At the end of the practical part are then applied a comprehensive evaluation methods aimed at using one number to comprehensively to characterize the financial situation of the company. The aim of this work is to describe the resulting value analysis, to assess the development results achieved over time and compare them with average values in the industry.
Business Plan
Straková, Barbora ; Fiala, Roman (advisor) ; Řepová, Helena (referee)
This masters thesis is focused on the theoretical description of the business plan creation and is devided into chapters where the plan is described in details. The theoretical part contains an explanation of legal issues of the real estate renting. The practical part is focused on practical application and is designed as an instruction how to do the business in this area. The target of this thesis is the business plan creation. Financial analysis will reveal if the plan is to be realized and if it is payable. Analysis of the market, included in the plan, is focused on customer behaviour and competitors analysis. Analyses of internal and external environment are focused on the factors which affect the market position of the business.

Havlíčková, Romana ; Fiala, Roman (referee) ; Zich, Robert (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis deal with assemblage of communication mix for the firm M-soft, the firm is engaged in internet services and sales computer technology. Thesis examines the firm, analyse of communication mix and environment and proposes useful combination of instruments of communication mix.
Design of class-D audio power amplifier
Fiala, Roman ; Götthans, Tomáš (referee) ; Brančík, Lubomír (advisor)
This semestral thesis describes class D low frequency power amplifiers and design of specific 2x100W class D power amplifier. The designed amplifier contains a second order sigma-delta modulator in which the quantization is controlled only by the delay of modulator components. This design does not include the clock generator which usually controls the quantization in sigma-delta modulators. This semestral thesis also includes design of a switched-mode power supply for the power amplifier and for the preamplifier. The PSpice program has been used for the design and verification of some sections of circuits. All designs have been built. Also basic parameters of completed circuits were measured.
Shortwave power amplifier
Fiala, Roman ; Vařacha, František (referee) ; Prokeš, Aleš (advisor)
This master’s thesis describes RF power amplifier design. The designed amplifier has been built. The first three chapters outline basics about radio frequency amplifiers. The basic theory needed for amplifier implementation is also described there. In the fourth chapter the power amplifier is designed. The design is based on the theoretical knowledge. Complete amplifier contains RF preamplifier, power amplifier and filters. The OrCAD PSpice, Ansoft Designer SV and EAGLE programs have been used for the design and verification of some sections of circuits. Measurement results of the built amplifier are in the fifth chapter. This thesis contains also the draft for laboratory exercise.
Proposal of Activities Improving Competitiveness of Company
Havlíčková, Romana ; Fiala, Roman (referee) ; Fiala, Roman (referee) ; Zich, Robert (advisor)
This master’s thesis deal with proposal of activities improving competitiveness of company M-soft. This company is engaged in internet services and sales computer technology. Thesis examines the company, analyses environment of firm and marketing mix and proposes useful activities improving competitiveness of company witch will have exercise for her next development.
Vliv důvěry na výkonnost podniků, klastrů a nákupních aliancí
Fiala, Roman
FIALA, R., 2012: The impact of trust on performance of enterprises, clusters and purchasing alliances. Mendel University in Brno. Dissertation thesis. This dissertation thesis is concerned with verification of how trust influences the performance of enterprises, clusters and purchasing alliances. Three models have been formed on which relationships among variables are proved by means of structural equation modeling. The first model deals with relations between the interorganizational and interpersonal trust in the supplier from the purchaser's point of view, negotiation costs and the level of conflict between suppliers and customers, and with the performance of suppliers and customers. Based on calculations, statistically significant relation has been discovered between the trust (interorganizational and interpersonal) and the negotiation costs, the trust (interorganizational and interpersonal) and the level of conflict, the performance of suppliers and the negotiation costs, the performance of suppliers and the level of conflict, as well as the relation between the performance of suppliers and the performance of customers. The second model shows a relationship between reputation among members of clusters, the trust among their members and the performance of clusters. Out of the three relations researched two were statistically significant (i.e. the relation between the reputation and the trust, and the trust and the performance). The relation between the reputation and the performance was statistically insignificant. The third model verifies a relationship between the reputation of the purchasing alliance headquarters, the trust in it, and the performance of the purchasing alliance. Statistically significant relations have been discovered between these three variables.
