Pierre de Ronsard through the eyes of Vladimír Holan

The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of translations of Pierre de Ronsard by Vladimír Holan. The part one is dedicated to this French poet and concentrates mainly on his life and poetic vision. The part two focuses on Ronsard's position in Czech literature and it elucidates when and at what circumstances the first studies on Ronsard and translations of his poetry have come. The part three focuses on the personality and poetic vision of Vladimír Holan and its objective is to find out what was Holan's impulse to translate Ronsard's poetry. The final and fourth part analyses Holan's translations in comparison with the original texts. It concentrates on sonnets, madrigals and odes and assesses to what extent the formal and semantic elements of the poems have been preserved.
