Förstl, Filip ; Hasman, Jiří (advisor) ; Burda, Tomáš (referee)
In the case of Czechia, with their unprecedented development, microbrewing became one of the most dynamic industries. Characteristics of microbreweries are becoming the opposite of the globalized industry branches, but they are also becoming the supplement of them, with typical stress on local and regional level. Therefore, microbreweries are often object of study in cultural and economic geography as it enables to test concepts and approaches coming from these two sub- disciplines of geography. The main aims of this thesis is to present and examine factors which lead to the founding of microbreweries and their localization, which are analysed on the representative sample of microbreweries coming from Pardubice region and Prague. Moreover, next aim of the thesis is to find out, how much microbrewing boom could be explained by concepts of neolocalism and glocalization. But also several individual factors leading to founding the microbreweries were found. Two main common factors of mictobreweries localization, such as ownership of objects, where microbrewery can be located, and renting of a place for emplacement of microbrewery, were found out as well. Aspects of...

Gallus, Adam ; Hanus, Martin (advisor) ; Burda, Tomáš (referee)
The main goal of the thesis is to answer whether an ability to use maps in different ways is affected by one or more criteria specified by the author. Before the practical part of the thesis was executed the theoretical part of the thesis had been dealt with. Different map skills were specified and characterized. Maps which the author had chosen to use for the purpose of the thesis were thoroughly described and particular odds of work with old maps were emphasised. For the purpose of the research part of the thesis the author developed a didactic test. At pilot testing a sample of 34 pupils completed the test to verify it is suitable for the thesis purpose and it meets all requirements for scientific research. At the second stage of the practical part of the research a group of 125 pupils from two different types of school completed the test. The importance of symbols for national identity formation in Scotland
Kluchová, Adéla ; Jelen, Libor (advisor) ; Burda, Tomáš (referee)
The Importance of Symbols for National Identity Formation in Scotland This diploma thesis deals with the importance of symbols for national identity formation in contemporary Scotland. Selected phenomena are explored from two points of view: the first one analyzes the symbols reproduced "from above" by the official tourist agency and political representation and occurence of these symbols in public space. The second examines the subjective perception of Scottish national identity and its symbols. A combination of mostly qualitative research methods has been used in the study, the analysis of virtual data (Hendl 2016) was complemented by findings from a field survey in Scotland, which included e.g. monitoring of the data concerning the occurence of Scottish national symbols in the public space, and 10 standardized open interviews with residents of Edinburgh and Glasgow. The symbols presented by the tourist agency are predominantly ethno-historical, such as tartan, thisle or traditional Scottish music, whereas the political representation of Scottish national identity is dominated by the symbolism of a fair, just and pacifist community and a clear definition of the Scottish national identity towards the English one. The subjective perception of Scottish national identity combines both approaches....
Beer tourism in the Liberec Region
Vonička, Martin ; Vágner, Jiří (advisor) ; Burda, Tomáš (referee)
The dissertation is one of a number of contributions to the research of a rather new form of tourism - beer tourism, or gastronomy tourism in a broader context. In the first part of the dissertation, the topic is grasped theoretically. Firstly, beer tourism is defined as one of the alternative forms of spending leisure time, and it is classified within tourism typology, alongside the better-known wine tourism. Tourists currently prefer the alternative forms, with an emphasis on, besides other things, tradition, authenticity and experience, which make up the values typical for participating in beer tourism. In spite of this form being at the start of its expansion in the Czech Republic, in the last few years, its dynamic has been immense, which is documented by plain statistics. In the past 3 years, almost half of the current 340 Czech breweries have been established. Further in the text, the product of beer tourism is defined and its typology is created, by which the supply side of tourism on the level of the Czech Republic as well as the Liberec region is later analysed. The second part focuses on the assessment of a questionnaire survey, with the objective of assessing the respondents' perception of the beer market and tourism in the Liberec region. The questionnaire survey is followed up by...
