Marxism and its relationship to religion
Annotation: The subject of this paper is Marxism and its relationship to religion, how its founders - - Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels - conceived it. The paper is divided into five parts. In the first part, I will briefly describe their life to form an integrated view of their teaching, which could not be properly understood without knowledge of their life. The second part is dedicated to historical and intellectual sources of Marxism. In the third part, we are engaged in dialectic materialism. In the fourth chapter, we deal with historical materialism and in the last, fifth part, the subject of our interest is the Marxist concept of anthropology, religion and moral. Key words:...

The mystery of suffering in the teaching of Pope John Paul II
Spišák, Róbert ; Novotný, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Bouma, David (referee)
AN ENGLISH ANNOTATION Róbert Spišák THE MYSTERY OF SUFFERING IN THE POPE JOHN PAUL II' S. The thesis The aim of this diploma thesis is to introduce John Paul II's view of the mystery of suffering. Based on the Pope's writings, the author is attempting to find the main theological motives that make suffering meaningful. The thesis is divided into five chapters. The starting point is the third chapter, which describes the mystery of suffering. Pope John Paul II. sees the answer to suffering in God's revelation of His love to a man. Christ on the cross reveals the love of God, which is faithful, and is even willing to sacrifice life for a man. God, who loves in such a way, could not have wanted for a man to suffer. Suffering came to the world trough man's freedom that decided for sin and thus betrayed Love. Jesus' suffering reveals also the evil of the sin that has separated a man from God. Jesus as a perfect man, new Adam, also reveals the nature of man's vocation. A man is called to love and self-sacrifice. Christ wants a man to follow Him. Resurrection of Christ assures us that love is stronger than any evil. As suffering came into being trough rejection of love, its significance is utterly in return to love. Trough fait a man can uncover in their own suffering and in suffering of the others, Jesus'...

The Birth of Fellowship in the Church. Basic Condition for the Church's functioning
Matyska, Martin ; Brož, Prokop (advisor) ; Bouma, David (referee)
The Diploma thesis "The birth of community in the Church as a fundamental presupposition for the functioning of the Church" discusses the creation of communities in the Church in the light of biblical theology, theological anthropology, magisterial documents and contemporary trends in theology. It is based on thinking about man and deals with these subsidiary questions: What is the Church, and what is the relationship between a person and the Church? For what reason does the Church exists? What is the role of a person assimilated into the Church? What characteristics should he have? What is the Church's relationship to God? Are special communities really so important? Isn't a "parish" spirituality enough? It is necessary to renew the initial ardour? Does not the Spirit act in the Church permanently? However, the main task was to answer the question of whether or not the Holy Spirit uses similar paradigms for the creation of individual communities in the Church. This thesis comprises two parts: its theoretical part deals with the theology of the creation of a community. In the second part we present four communities selected from the history and the present times. The answer to the main question of the thesis we sought using historical-comparative method. Keywords church, community, kerygma,...
A Critique of New Atheism
Dravecký, Pavol ; Bouma, David (advisor) ; Pospíšil, Ctirad Václav (referee)
A Critique of New Atheism London buses with atheistic banners in January 2009 were only one instance of an emerging stream of "new atheists" who in the name of Science proclaim the end of God. This thesis shall first present a twofold critique of the foremost activist of this movement, Richard Dawkins and his central volume "The God Delusion", so that it eventually looks for an explanation for his surprising success. It will conclude that in spite of his boldness, Dawkins fails to present reasonable criticism of Christian theism. Since his popularity cannot be ascribed to any relevant innovative thought, its roots must probably be found in certain aspects of our time and perhaps in an inadequacy of the language of the Church. Keywords: Atheism, Richard Dawkins, Existence of God, Christianity, Fundamental Theology
The Life and Work of Reginald Dacík
Černá, Renata ; Bouma, David (advisor) ; Mohelník, Tomáš (referee)
Anglická anotace / English annotation Bc. Renata Černá - THE LIFE AND WORK OF REGINALD DACÍK This thesis comprises two sections: the first part deals briefly with the rich and varied life of Reginald Dacík; the other part, which is more voluminous, is devoted to Dacík's work, in particular to his work published in book form. Father Dacík had a beneficial influence on the lives of a large number of Christians. He belonged to a well-known and active generation of Moravian Dominicans and is considered to be one of the foremost representatives of Neo-Thomism in the Czech Republic. He followed the example of St Thomas Aquinas, whose work he took as an authoritative basis in the fields of dogmatics, morality and spiritual life. During his life he experienced persecution and imprisonment, even his life was in danger. He was brought face to face with his own human weakness as well as with the limits of the life in this world. When in prison, he was not allowed to write, but living a life with God, he was able to witness it, and moreover, he managed to teach in secret. Having been released from prison, he worked at Velehrad with the Congregation of Sisters of St Cyril and Methodius. As far as this period of his life is concerned, his work in book form seems to be rather modest. The account of Dacík's work would not...
