The current status of the credit rating and credit rating agencies in relation to financial market regulation

This thesis concerns with the development of regulation of credit rating agencies in the European Union and in the United States of America. It points out the role of credit rating agencies in the US subprime mortgage crisis and also in the European debt crisis. Another part focuses on the major problems of credit rating agencies: conflicts of interest, lack of transparency, limited competition and the quality of rating process. The analytical part is devoted to regulátory approach before and after the financial crisis. The work summarizes the measures taken and evaluates them critically. The last chapter tries to outline other possible solutions that may arise in the near future.
Basel II. and the calculation of the capital requirement relating to credit risk

The bachelor thesis focuses on the calculation of the capital requirement concerning credit risk from the perspective of the Basel II. capital agreement. Firstly, a broader framework is introduced, treating capital adequacy and the preceding concepts that were followed by the Basel II. approaches. Subsequently, the thesis deals with two alternative calculations between which banks can choose -- the standardized approach and the internal ratings based approach, with an emphasis on the latter. The author proceeds from a general formulation of the calculation to its particular elements. Fairly detailed treatment is given to the inference of the risk weight function and to the methods of estimating the probability of default, one of the function's parameters.
Expected development of the Basel Accors

The work aims at the description and comparison of different developmental stages of the Basel agreements, which play a key role in banking regulation. The characteristic features are defined for each of the accords. The work is supported by analysis of the impact and criticism from the professionals and the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision. There is described the implementation process of the rules into national legislation
The institutional structure of regulation and supervision of financial markets

Bachelor thesis focuses on the institutional organization of the regulation and supervision in the Czech Republic and European Union level and progressive integration of regulation and supervision within the frame of European Union. The first two theoretical sections are devoted to defining the basic concepts, general supervision and integration, and comcer with the arguments for and against integration. The third section discusses in detail the development and integration process of regulation and supervision in the Czech Republic. The fourth section is devoted to a comprehensive new framework of supervision at European level, with a stronger focus on four new monitoring institutions.
Building savings

This bachelor thesis deals with the macroeconomic view of the building savings. Readers should be made familiar with the basic principles of operation and a part of the history of this product. The core of the work consists of two parts. The first one describes the key changes in legislation and their impact on the efficiency of building society and the state budget. The second one is focused on the development of the basic indicators of building savings in the Czech Republic, especially in relation to changing economic and legislative conditions. It also includes a brief forecast of future development of building savings and other possible legislative changes and their consequences, not only in this specific segment.
Credit risk measurement

The main goal of the thesis is a description of methods for measuring credit risk and a detailed analysis of its quantification by using the structural model CreditMetrics. This thesis is primarily dividend into three parts. The first chapter deals with the credit risk, its structure, specific charakteristics and its connection with the other financial risks. The second chapter examines the charakteristics and metodology of calculating credit risk by using structural model CreditMetrics. In the third chapter of this thesis is the model applied to a portfolio consisting of one, and then two bonds. There are assessed the strengths and weaknesses of the model in conclusion and this part also summarizes the results obtained.
Selected aspects of market risk management

The main objective of the bachelor thesis is to define the basic methods for measurement and a way to reduce market risk. In the beginning of work the basic types of financial risk are defined, then individual types of market risk are described in more detail. Next the methods Value at risk for measuring market risk -- the method of variation and covariance, historical simulation and Monte Carlo simulation -- are explained. To specify measurement of interest-rate risk gap analysis and duration gap analysis are analyzed. Then there is enlightened about financial derivatives, which serve as the basic tools to ensure market risk. Therewithal standardized method for calculating capital requirements for various market risks is developed. Theoretical knowledge gained by studying literature is applied in the calculation of VaR by the method of variation and covariance. And triangular decomposition principle is used to influence the value at risk.
Institutional structure of regulation and supervision in Czech Republic and selected countries

The bachelor thesis deals with problem of institutional structure of financial regulation and supervision in Czech Republic and European Union. Thesis is divided into three parts. First part includes explanation of basic terms connected with regulation and supervision. Second part is dedicated to theoretical description of alternatives of institutional structure, integration trend and situation of institutional structure of regulation and supervision in EU. Third part is focused on development of institutional structure in Czech Republic and sums up its success. In third part is also mentioned possible integration trend of regulation and supervision of European financial markets.
