REINFORCED CONCRETE TANK
Beran, Jakub ; Jeneš, Rostislav (referee) ; Šulák, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is a static design of an reinforcement tank. The internal forces are calculated by FEM programme Scia Engineer 16.1 with a SOILIN modul interacting with a subsoil model. The internal forces are verified by a manual calculation. The load-bearing elements are designed with these forces. The structural assessment report is designed to ultimate limit state and service limite state – service limit state of crack. Another report considers ground water occurring. The static report deals with different time of concreting foundation slab and walls. This is the reason why shrinkage is very important for internal forces and their values. The objective of the project is to design the tank without cracks in concrete. The limit width of cracks is wk= 0,3 mm by EC 1992-1-1.
Overpass bridge across the expressway
Beran, Jakub ; Zlatuška, Karel (referee) ; Nečas, Radim (advisor)
The topic of this thesis is detailed design of the supporting structure of a bridge. The final design is chosen out of three variants. It is a single beam structure consisting of 6 spans. The supporting structure is prestressed concrete with post-tensioning technology, the impact of phased construction is considered. the subject of the expertise of the structure is ultimate limit state, as well as service limit state, designed according to the code. The thesis also contains drawings, visualization and Engineering Report of the structure.
Machine learning on small datasets with large number of features
Beran, Jakub ; Mráz, František (advisor) ; Matzner, Filip (referee)
Machine learning models are difficult to employ in biology-related research. On the one hand, the availability of features increases as we can obtain gene expressions and other omics information. On the other hand, the number of available observations is still low due to the high costs associated with obtaining the data for a single subject. In this work we, therefore, focus on the set of problems where the number of observations is smaller than the number of features. We analyse different combinations of feature selection and classification models and we study which combinations work the best. To assess these model combinations, we introduce two simulation studies and several real-world datasets. We conclude that most classification models benefit from feature pre-selection using feature selection models. Also, we define model-based thresholds for the number of observations above which we observe increased feature selection stability and quality. Finally, we identify a relation between feature selection False Discovery Rate and stability expressed in terms of the Jaccard index. 1
