Annotated Translation of Selected Chapters from "Lamaistische Tanzmasken" (1967) by Werner Forman and Bjamba Rintschen

The bachelor thesis consists of a translation of one chapter from the book Lamaistische Tanzmasken by Werner Forman and Byambyn Rinchen. The source text deals with Mongolia, life in a monastery, the life of Mongolian nomadic cattle breeders, Lamaistic dance masks, the history of the Cam and the Erleg Cam. The commentary consists of a translation analysis of the source text, a typology of translation problems and translation and expression shifts. All theoretical information is based on examples from the source and target text. The aim of this thesis was not only to translate while preserving the function of the text, but also to explain the translation solutions.
