Regional disparities of Germany with focus on new federated states

The main aim of the thesis is to give a complex overview of different types of financial sources, from which new federated states can take benefits, and to give an opinion on the created effectiveness. Additional aims are to sum up the situation of the East German economy after WW2 and also the progress in its reforming during the 90s. Different historical development of the both former divided parts of nowadays Germany is essential because of understanding the economic situation of East Germany in 1990 and the nowadays problems. The first chapter sums up the economic consequences of the post war period, the influence of reparations, demontages and their dimension. In the second chapter follows an evaluation of the main topics of the beginning in the 90s - monetary reform and privatization. The third chapter goes on with the topic of economic reforms in the 90s and defines basic financial programs which are a long-term support to new federated states. Fourth chapter compares main chosen macroeconomic indicators of Germany and EU-27 and then of the old and new federated states. First, economic level of the whole Germany is being analysed and then its regional disparities. The last, fifth, chapter monitors the situation of Germany and its new federated states in the point of structural funds of the European Union.

The graduation thesis Labour Market and Free Movement of Labour (European Union and Great Britain case study) describes the recent situation in the European and British labour markets. It concentrates on impact of financial crisis on labour markets. Then, it monitors the trends of free movement of labour in the European Union and assesses the impact of opening of labour markets on individual economies. Finally, the British migration system is analysed. The changes in migration to Great Britain after 2004 are outlined and new points based system is introduced. The impact of migrant workers on british economy is evaluated.
Economic relations between Germany and the Czech Republic from 2004 to 2009

This bachelor thesis deals with economic relations between Germany and the Czech Republic from 2004 to 2009. First chapter deals with the general economic characteristics of Germany. It is focused on foreign trade and foreign direct investment. The second chapter describes the economic relations between the Czech Republic and Germany. The most of this part writes about trade in goods and services and the flow of foreign direct investment. The third chapter deals with cooperation between the Czech Republic and Bavaria and Saxony. In conclusion prospects and perspectives of economic cooperation between the Czech Republic and Germany in the future are discussed.
Impacts of global financial crisis on the economies of USA, EU and Japan

United States, European Union and Japan are the most important centers of the world economy. Each of them took a different path of economic development, each has different strengths and weaknesses and faces a number of specific problems. These problems are multiplied especially in times of an economic crisis and subsequent recession. This work, divided into four chapters, aims to theoretically and practically analyze the main causes and stages of the financial crisis, with emphasis on its development in three major economies. The first chapter, which deals with the theory of financial crises, is followed by the second one, where theoretical knowledge is applied to the development and course of the global financial crisis and provides an overview of specific short-term measures that the economies had to take in order to fight it. The third chapter analyzes the impact of the crisis on the basic macroeconomic indicators of the analyzed centers and the fourth one summarizes lessons that the economist and state representatives should learn from this experience.
Response of the European Union to the financial crisis - basis for an efficient regulation?

The thesis analyses reaction of the European Union vis-a-vis the financial crisis. Its main purpose is to asses concrete steps carried out by the EU referring to theoretical literature on financial regulation. Thus, first part of the thesis compares general arguments of those in favour of the financial regulation with those opposing it. Current state of such a discussion with the emphasis on the EU is also taken into account. After summarising main causes and consequences of the crisis in the European Union, the thesis focuses on presenting the reaction of the organisation. Its concrete steps are evaluated on the basis of the theoretical arguments outlined before.
The economic development of Greece from joining the euro to 2009

This bachelor thesis describes the development of economy in Greece, focusing on the development after joining the euro. It compares the economic development before joining the euro with the development after the joining with regard to the current situation. Development of the Greek economy is currently very hot topic, especially because the economic situation in Greece is not favorable. The biggest problem is the growing debt and deficit in public finances. Regarding that Greece is a member of the euro area its development has a significant negative impact on what is happening across the monetary union and in particular on the stability of European currency. Future development in Greece could significantly affect the future of the euro area, and therefore is the current development so monitored.
The Impact of Terrorism on the U.S. Economy

This bachelor paper evaluates the impact of terrorism on the U.S. economy. In the theoretical part the term terrorism is explained as well as its possible implications. In the next part different types of counter-terrorist measures are characterized together with their costs. In the practical part immediate damage caused by the terrorist attacks of September 11th 2001 is evaluated as well as the general macroeconomic consequences of terrorist attacks. Specific costs are demonstrated on the example of U.S.A.
Transatlantic relations in the context of the Framework Agreement

This bachelor thesis covers the trade relations between the United States and European Union. It makes readers familiar with the Euro-Atlantic trade and with the volume of trade flows between the U.S. and the EU in various sectors. It describes the trade between the EU and the U.S. according to the multilateral agreements in the WTO as well as to the single bilateral agreements. It outlines the barriers to trade in selected examples of trade disputes and determines the tariff and non-tariff barriers in transatlantic relations. The last Framework Agreement between the U.S. and EU is described more in details and focuses on the progress which was made under the Framework.
The Relations between the European Union and the Mediterranean: the potential and risks

The Mediterranean region is due to its geographical location and historical ties to the European countries from the period of colonial administration one of the key areas of external relations of the European Union. The objective of this thesis is to characterize Southern and Eastern Mediterranean countries in terms of what positives they can offer to the European Union in the field of economy and trade and in terms of what risks, on the contrary, their mutual cooperation can bring to the EU. Firstly, the paper compares the individual Mediterranean economies in the areas of economy, energetics and migration, then it analyses the trade relations in the Euro-Mediterranean region and deals with the progress of the Euro-Mediterranean Free Trade Area. Finally, the paper tries to assess some possible benefits and potential risks of the cooperation of the two regions within the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership.
Competitiveness of the german economy in the context of the Social Market Economy

This work inquires into the topic of German competitiveness in dependence on the economic policy. The first chapter analyses current german competitiveness on the basis of statistical data and multicriterial competitiveness indicators. The second chapter describes the social market economy as a unique social economic model, its development and effect on competitiveness. The third chapter is dedicated to the german reunification, its results and reforms necessary to maintain competitiveness.
