Models of information and knowledge for support of medical decision-making
Vajda, Igor ; Veselý, Arnošt ; Zvárová, Jana
Formalization of the concept of knowledge is discussed including the related concept of information in knowledge. Risk of decisions at a given level of information is studied. Statistical measures of uncertainty and association are applied in medical decision-making.
MUDIM - a system for MUltiDImensional Model development
Jiroušek, Radim
The goal of the paper is to introduce system MUDIM, which is intended to support non-graphical multidimensional models, namely compositional models. It helps experimentalists to build models describing collected data as well as researchers to analyse properties of the composed models. In agreement with the philosophy of R language, which is used as an environment for MUDIM, the system is a free software and is available in source code.
Detection of independence relations from persegrams
Jiroušek, Radim
Procedures for computation with multidimensional models (multidimensional probability distributions) are efficient only for models with specific independence structure. Therefore, it is of great importance to learn the independence structure. The paper presents a solution of this task for models represented by generating sequences.
ECML/PKDD konference - výzva k analýze dat o rizikových faktorech aterosklerózy
Berka, P. ; Tomečková, Marie ; Rauch, J.
It becomes a good habit to organize a data mining cup, a competition or a challenge at machine learning or data mining conferences. The main idea of the Discovery Challenge organized at the European Conferences on Principles and Practice of Knowledge Discovery in Databases since 1999 was to encourage a collaborative research effort rather than a competition between data miners. Different data sets have been used for the challenges during the six years. The paper summarizes out experience gained when organizing and evaluating the challenge on the atherosclerosis risk factor data.
Rozdíly v úmrtnosti mužů a žen na karcinom plic mohou souviset s faktory životního stylu.
Valenta, Zdeněk ; Holcátová, I. ; Slámová, A. ; Zvárová, Jana
Study identified several lifestyle-related risk factors for lung cancer incidence that appeared to reflect socio-economic changes in the post-Velvet Revolution Czech Republic. Observed association between lung cancer incidence and increased tomatoes and fresh vegetables consumption was an unexpected finding. Treatment for hypertension appeared to beneficially modify the effect of smoking. Gender differences in lung cancer mortality appeared to reflect gender-related lifestyle differences
STULONG Study - Analysis by Methods Data Mining
Berka, P. ; Tomečková, Marie ; Rauch, J.
Twenty years lasting epidemiological study of risk factors of atherosclerosis in the middle-aged men was evaluated by methods of data mining. Some unexpected results were obtained.
Expert System for Estimation of Risk Occurence of Atherosclerosis
Laš, V. ; Berka, P. ; Tomečková, Marie
Expert system for estimation of risk of occurrence of atherosclerosis was made according twenty years lasting follow-up of Czech middle-aged men

Tomečková, Marie ; Grünfeldová, H. ; Peleška, Jan ; Hanuš, P. ; Malý, Marek ; Martinková, Patrícia ; Pokorný, V.
There are given some results of the preventive cardiologic investigations of Czech population in out-door department in the interdisciplinary research centre EuroMISE Centre – Cardio.
A Program for Competency Testing
Heroutová, Helena
The data collected in the databases can be utilized for data-mining, for classification, prediction and learning as well. The Program For Competency Testing is meant to be used for medical students. With its help they can gain knowledge contained in databases filled with data obtained in the process of treating patients.
