Contribution to differentiation of small Moravian and Silesian towns from the point of biogeography and geoecology

This entry differentiate according to 6 indicator set of 128 small cities and their surroundings. Indicators: fytogeography region, vegetation belt, part of woods inside of circle 4 km from town centre, ecological constancy coefficient, conservation and landscapes meaning, actual landuse types.
Biodiversity changes and cultural landscape character changes during the 20th century on model Tišnov catastre

In the example of cadastre of small Moravian town of Tišnov, which developed without influences of significant natural and anthropogenic disturbances, was found that during the 20th century was residential area 5 times enlarged, but number of inhabitants increased just 2,7 times. CA 50 species of plants and 20 species of animal were lost. Landscape character of garden town was also significantly changed.
Perception of small Moravian towns by their inhabitants

The paper that is based on the data obtained from the author´s own research focused on the issue of perception and image of the small towns, presents certain established results from questionnaire surveys aimed at analysis of perception of small Moravian towns from the particular point of view of their inhabitants, specifically perception of the town image, evaluation of different environmental and social dimensions of the living space and their changes, analysis of perception of the quality of life, anxiety and future prospects, and classification of the present most significant problems in life of inhabitants of the small towns.
Motivation and methods of using telecommunication technologies by inhabitants of small towns

The issue of availability and possibility to use the new telecommunication and information technologies is one of the key issues regarding the problems of regional development in the contemporary information society. Mobile phones, facsimiles, computers, internet and other technologies, their currency, method and scope of use as well as the related knowledge and skill represent one of the basic elements thanks to which the Czech Republic should become the integral part of the modern information world as the dynamic, educated and competitive society. The authors, concerned with the problems in their paper based on the data gathered by their own research, are focused on use of the telecommunication and information technologies specifically in relation to the inhabitants of small Moravian towns.

Flared rock residua in granite low hills of the Czech highland

In granite low hills in surrounding of the towns of Třebíč, Velké Meziříčí and Slavonice the still less little described dwarf flared rock residua were found. In contrast to low granite domes flared rock residua reminding loose boulders occurs at exposed position near watersheds. With regard to missing large granite domes and inselbergs the dwarf flared landforms could be supposed as final stage of multiple phased development of etchplains in the Czech Highland. Important role in weathering play shallow undergroung water.

Small towns are evaluated according to their geographic and topographic position and potential threat of natural hazards. Impacts of rainstorms and floods on small towns as well as questions of flood control and protection against hazards are discussed in more detail.
Marginalization of moravian-slovakian borderland.

After the split-up of Czechoslovakia, a new state border came into existence between Czech and Slovak republics. Regions, initially interior, became border ones. Creation of new state border and transition to the to the market economy multiplied by physico-geographical characteristic of the territory leads up to the rapid marginalization of this „new“ borderland. The paper deals with marginalization of the Bílé Karpaty region, namely with case studies of Bojkovice, Horní Lideč, Slavičín, Brumov and Valašské Klobouky micro-regions.

This contribution deals with changes in the Czech agriculture and its changing functions during the 20th century. This research problem is followed on the example of small town of Klimkovice. In the first part influences of agriculture on small towns are assessed, the second part is devoted to changes in Klimkovice. Final part concludes contribution with possibilities for prospected development of agriculture in small towns.
