Reliability assessment of bodies with general singular stress concentrator
Klusák, Jan
The paper presents a method leading to reliability assessment of bodies with general singular stress concentrator. The method uses combination of analytical and numerical procedures to determine fracture-mechanics parameters. The approach is based on comparison of fracture behaviour of body with a crack and a body with a general singular stress concentrator. The goal of the paper is to determine value of applied stress that leads to initiation of failure of construction.
Kritérium stability bi-materiálového vrubu se dvěma singularitami
Klusák, Jan
Interfaces with a step change of material properties occur often in technical constructions. In combination with a sharp notch it usually leads to singular stress distribution in a vicinity of such a wedge. The existence of two singularities seems to be the main problem within study of this stress concentrator. The other problem is that each singularity does not correspond to particular mode of loading. The presented contribution studies stress distribution in a bi-material wedge vicinity and shows a method of solution of the problems in case of existence of multiple stress singularity
Computation of the Q-parameter for a crack in the vicinity of an elastic-plastic material interface
Seitl, Stanislav
The different levels of a stress constraint are quantified by Q-parameter. The values of the Q-parameter are numerically estimated as a function of length of crack, material properties and with respect to bi-material interface. Corresponding calculations are performed by finite element method (ANSYS system).
Problems of fracture behaviour of bi-material notches
Klusák, Jan
Paper tries to show problems that occur by fracture-mechanics analysis of bi-material notch. It is considered as a synthesis of two general singular stress concentrators (bi-material interface and V-notch).
Comparison of fracture behaviour of a crack and general singular stress concentrators
Klusák, Jan ; Seitl, Stanislav ; Hutař, Pavel ; Náhlík, Luboš ; Knésl, Zdeněk
Under the assumptions of linear elastic fracture mechanics the behaviour of cracks and general singular stress concentrators is studied and compared. The stress distribution in the vicinity of singular stress concentrators is analysed and a general fracture mechanics procedure based on stress method is suggested which makes it possible to formulate fracture behaviour of such concentrators. Examples illustrating the suggested approach are added. The results generally contribute to a better understanding of the failure and increase reliability of life estimations of structures.
Comparison of stability criteria of V-notched body under combined mode of loading
Klusák, Jan ; Knésl, Zdeněk
The stability criteria of V-notched bodies under combination of loading modes I and II are suggested and compared in the article. Methodology of stability criterion suggestion is based on analogy between behaviour of body with a crack and with a V-notch. Analytical approach to suggestion of stability criteria and methods of numerical estimation of magnitudes controlling stability of the concentrators are shown in the article. Corresponding evaluations are obtained from finite element method system ANSYS. Suggested criteria are mutually compared.
Analýza singularity napětí s bi-materiálovým vrubem
Klusák, Jan ; Knésl, Zdeněk
The article deals with analysis of a stress state in the case of constructions with a bi-material notch. The eigenvalues as well as the stress singularity exponents are determined and discussed for three specific geometries of a bi-material notch and for varying material combinations. The eigenvalues are presented in dependence on Dundurs` composite parameters in so called Dundurs` parallelograms. A numerical example of critical stress estimation is given at the end of the article
Study of the plastic zone shape and size in a bi-material vicinity
Klusák, Jan
Shape and size of a plastic zone in a vicinity of a bi-material notch are studied in the article. There are analytical relations shown for determination of the plastic zone and for evaluation of generalized stress intensity factors. Conditions of crack initiation from bi-material wedge are determined based on comparison of numerically determined stress intensity factor with its threshold value or comparing applied stress with critical stress. The results of the study contribute to better life-time evaluations of constructions containing a bi-material notch.
