Large scale FE analysis of stresses due to excavation and heating
Blaheta, Radim ; Jakl, Ondřej ; Kohut, Roman ; Starý, Jiří
Paper shows the requirements for the use of efficient iterative solvers and parallel high performance computing for solving linear systems, which arise from large scale 3-D finite element (FE) analysis of problems of elasticity and thermo-elasticity in geomechanics. We also summarize our experience and results relating to the use of problem decomposition iterative methods.
Mathematical modelling of bituminous coal seams burning out
Kozubek, T. ; Klika, Z. ; Dostál, Z. ; Dvořák, D. ; Martinec, Petr
Burning out of three coal seams in Upper Silesian Coal Basin was modelled with simplifying assumptions. The heat equation with suitable initial and boundary conditions was used for the description of this process.
