Analýza geneze a aktivity svahové deformace Běleč Title: Analysis of genesis and activity of slope deformation Běleč in context of evolution of the Svratka river valley between Doubravník and Borač Author: Daniel Žížala Department: Department of Physical Geography and Geoecology, Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague Supervisor: Doc. RNDr. Vít Vilímek, CSc. Abstract Submitted diploma thesis deals with genesis and activity of deep-seated slope deformation Běleč, situated in a deep fault valley of Křeptovský stream at the eastern boundary of Bohemian-Moravian upland. The study contributes to resolve a question of the failure Běleč impact on Vír water pipeline crash in 2005. In the thesis, several research methods were adopted. For determination of the deformation genesis, geomorphologic analysis was used. According to this method, initiation of the slope movements on the failure zone can be classified as Middle Pleistocenic. In the research on neotectonic failure zones influence on the Běleč deformation creation, morphotectonic analysis was applied. In Křeptovský stream valley, presence of a longitudinal and transversal failure affecting the strength characteristics of the massif was demonstrated. The activity of the slope movements was studied between 1880 - 2007 by means of dendrogeomorphologic...
Evaluation of soil coverage with Remote sensing

Title: Evaluation of soil coverage with Remote sensing Author: Bc. Jiří Kocum Study Programme: Master studies in Physical Geography and Geoecology Supervisor: RNDr. Luděk Šefrna, CSc. Soil coverage of Czech Republic is well mapped, especialy thanks to Complex Soil Survey during the 1970s. Results of this survey were digitalized and nowadays they are usefull for many analysis, studies, spatial planning and other administrative needs. Despite their considerable details, they are not capturing many of the non-negligible phenomena, either due to inaccuracies at the time of collecting these data or due to ongoing natural processes, in this case mainly soil erosion. This thesis deals with soil mosaics that are visible from aerial photographs on agricultural land but are not affected in the Complex Soil Survey maps. For this purpose 50 locations in the Czech Republic were selected where mosaics are studied. Attention is paid to the way of origin, places of occurrence and the shape of the mosaic itself. Based on these variables a classification of individual mosaic types was created. The resulting classification consists of 3 groups together containing 9 categories. Not all selected locations contain only one type of category. The mosaic is often made up of several types, and the resulting shape is the sum...
Creating of variable rate application maps based on the mapping of spatial variability of soil agrochemical properties and crop yield heterogeneity

The methodology describes how to create application maps based on digital soil mapping and soil sampling results and how to determine the dose of variable rate application of fertilizer addressed to spatial variability of nutrient content in soil and crop yields within the field. It includes also the results of a comparison of these procedures with respect to the total amount of fertilizer applied and the occuracy of the dose distribution across the fields.

Determination of recharge zones by means of vegetation water stress based on remote sensing and ground measurements

The watershed recharge zones with high soil permeability are critical source zones of non-point agricultural pollution. Their delimitation is the condition of targeted agricultural management in protection zones of water resources. The accelerated water runoff from permeable soils of recharge zones reduces actual evapotranspiration and supports faster formation of vegetation water stress in comparison with other watershed parts. Recharge zones delimitation upon this theory was carried out on a small watershed (partially drained) by a combination of aerial photography in the infrared and optical spectrum of electromagnetic radiation, which provided a basis for modelling of surface energy balance components and crop water stress index (CWSI). The best indicators of vegetation water stress determined by statistical analyzes in order to define recharge zones (arable land with closed stand) were revealed evaporation fraction, CWSI and surface temperature. The results were supported by detailed pedological survey.
