Legal and Economic Aspects of the Entry of the Czech Republic into the Euro Area
Žáček, Ondřej ; Vybíral, Roman (referee)
Legal and Economic Aspects of the Entry of the Czech Republic into the Euro Area Abstract The thesis answers a number of questions related to the entry of the Czech Republic into the euro area. The basic premise is that joining the euro area does not consist only in changing of the national currency, but it must be perceived more comprehensively as a transition to the third stage of the Economic and Monetary Union which has been undergoing dynamic development at the institutional level. The main conclusions of the thesis are as follows. The traditional Maastricht convergence criteria, as they are explicitly formulated in primary law, cannot be regarded as the sole conditions for entry into the euro area. Non-legal aspects are also relevant when the fulfilment of these criteria is assessed by the European Commission and the European Central Bank. In addition, several new institutions such as the Banking Union or the European Stability Mechanism have been established in the euro area, but are not taken into account by the Maastricht convergence criteria. This also confirms that entry into the euro area cannot be reduced to a mere change of the national currency. Another important conclusion is that entering the ERM II exchange rate mechanism, which is necessary to meet one of the convergence criteria, is not...
Natural gas expansion unit
Žáček, Ondřej ; Šnajdárek, Ladislav (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
The bachelor thesis "Natural gas expansion unit" relates to the problematics of gas pressure reduction from transport network of NET4GAS to the distribution network of JMP Net s.r.o. The thesis consists of three parts. In the first part the reader is introduced to the methods of natural gas pressure reduction, to the behavior and properties of natural gas and to the problematics of pressure levels of the gas pipelines. The second part describes the important segments of the expansion station in Velké Němčice such as the expansion turbine, cogeneration, regulators etc. The third part contains calculation of the most effective operation of the station.
Condensing Steam Turbine
Žáček, Ondřej ; Kracík, Petr (referee) ; Fiedler, Jan (advisor)
The aim of the thesis „Condensing steam turbine“ is design of condensing steam turbine with uncontrolled extractions. The design is made according to assigned parameters. Balancing scheme of the turbine is defined at the beginning of the thesis. Then design of the regulation stage and reaction stages is accomplished. The calculation (thermodynamic and strength) is computed for mentioned two parts. For thermodynamic calculation is used ca/u method. In closing the design of the seal system is made.
Supervision of the financial system in the European Union
Žáček, Ondřej ; Kohajda, Michael (advisor) ; Kotáb, Petr (referee)
1 Abstract This master thesis deals with the arrangement of the supervision of the financial system in the European Union. Its content and structure is strongly tied with two principal supervisory pillars - European System of Financial Supervision (ESFS) and Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM). The first chapter starts with the historical background of the European financial supervision and proceeds to the recent global Great recession which motivated the reforms that led to the current state of the supervisory structure. The operation of the ESFS and SSM is thoroughly explained in chapters two and three respectively, moreover I cover their interaction with national supervisory authorities and special emphasis is put on the role of the Czech National Bank. Several controversial issues are also reflected in the course of the thesis, ie. rather regulatory than supervisory role of the European supervisory authorities which contradicts the initially declared intentions, their low operability or quite illusory legislative demand of extensive independence of national representatives when they stand for their respective home authorities in the European institutions. The emphasis on the Czech Republic is evident from the sub-chapter regarding the potential entry into the close cooperation with the Single Supervisory...

Multimodel weather forecast comparison
Žáček, Ondřej ; Žák, Michal (advisor) ; Brožková, Radmila (referee)
This thesis analyses comparison and verification of three global numeric weather models, GFS, ECMWF, NEMS. The research subjects are make comparison of their 48-hour forecast with, for this thesis created, index correspondence of models and evaluate predictability of weather. Next, introduce basic verification methods and their application to forecast verification, from previously mentioned models, against surface observations with resolution 2 ř x 2 ř lat/lon between 1. 6. 2017-28. 2. 2018. Results show, that the worst predictability is at areas with continental glaciers, extensive world mountain ranges and at ITCZ area. The best predictability is observed in subtropical anticyclones over the oceans. Verification of temperature we find out significant smoothing of diurnal cycle in all three models. Biases of relative humidity are strongly negative corelated with temperature bias, skill score for relative humidity is worse than for temperature. Performance of mean sea level pressure is the best for all verification metrics from all analysed quantities. Wind speed is for most world overestimated. Results of 3-hour precipitation depends on treshold. Models overestimate frequency of low intensity precipitation, opposite results are observed for high intensity precipitation, break occur at interval...
Blocking of westerly flow over Central Europe
Žáček, Ondřej ; Žák, Michal (advisor) ; Huszár, Peter (referee)
This bachelor thesis analyses atmospheric blocking and its influence on European weather, with focus on Czech Republic. Atmospheric blocking is a phenomenon when western flow is interrupted by high pressure centre. The research subjects are summarising information about blocking, its formation, detection, climatology, annual cycle and interannual variability. At stations Praha-Klementinum and Olomouc was made correlation analyses different strengths of blocking in sector 60 ř W - 60ř E (with step 15ř) and monthly mean daily average, minimum, maximum temperature. We find out, that blocking frequency has significant interannual variability and annual cycle for all strengths of blocking which we defined. Based on correlation analyses we found out for both stations significant negative correlation between average monthly temperature and frequency of blocking in winter, in spring and autumn negative correlation is less significant and in summer for some longitudes positive correlation was found. If we use for correlation analyses monthly mean of minimum or maximum temperature, differences are insignificant. Differences of correlations between Praha-Klementinum and Olomouc are slight, at Praha-Klementinum station is correlations slightly lower.
