Efficacy of post-isometric relaxation technique on muscle tissue and its viscoelastic properties after physical activity

Title: Efficacy of post - isometric relaxation technique on muscle tissue and its viscoelastic properties after physical activity. Objective: This study is a pilot analytical and comparative study. The first aim of this thesis was evaluation of the effect of post-isometric relaxation technique on properties of muscle tissue after physical activity. The second aim of this thesis is to present a literature review regarding this topic using literature available. Methods: This study took place in the laboratory of kinesiology at UK FTVS. Six participants were measured prior to Wingate test, after Wingate test and after post- isometric relaxation or rest. Experimental lower extremity was applied post-isometric relaxation technique and the control lower extremity was not. Muscle tonus of the soleus muscle was measured with myotonometric device developed by Šifta. The final data were processed in the special software in Matlab and the obtained hysteresis curves were used for results analysis. Results: This study had three hypotheses and none of them was confirmed during the measuremets. Zuzana Pavelková Branch of study: TVS_B Disertation Tutor: PhDr. Petr Šifta, Ph.D. Year of Defense: 2012 Abstract: The aim of this study was to discover, whether four selected rehabillitation techniques (dry-needling application, cryotherapy, stretching and kinesiotaping) influence the muscle tone of musculus gastrocnemius and musculus soleus. It was assumed, that above mentioned methods decrease the muscle tone of selected muscles, that was increased by previous running performance or owing to acute or chronic problems with Achilles tendon. The muscle tone was measured by myotonometer in Kinesiology laboratory, Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at Charles University in Prague; muscle tone of twelve students of thisfaculty was measured. Data were displayed by using an analog- digital convertor and consequently evaluated. The results of this study indicate, that four selected rehabillitation methods influence the muscle tone of musculus gastrocnemius and musculus soleus. Title: The relationship between the occurrence of a trigger point in the soleus muscle and the functional impairment of the SI joint and the possibility of their mutual influence. Objectives/Aims: The aim is to write a summarization of facts based on a literature research on the complex problem of the trigger point phenomenon with a regard to their etiology and work out a pilot study to verify the relationship between the TrP and stiffness in soleus muscle and the functional impairment of the SI joint in terms of reduced joint play in the ipsilateral lower extremity. The experiment, based on objective results, is to answer the fundamental questions of whether patients with functional impairment of the SI joint leads to the formation of a TrP in the soleus muscle on the ipsilateral limb, whether the eventual dry needle therapy of a TrP in the soleus muscle will remove the malfunction of the ipsilateral SI joint, and vice versa, whether if by restoring joint play in the SI joint by mobilization therapy will have an effect on the muscle tone of the ipsilateral soleus muscle and remove the TRP. Title: Effect of sauna on muscle tone after physical excersise Topic definition: This thesis presents a pilot theoretical - empirical two-factor experiment, where the main subject of the experiment is to evaluate the effect of sauna on increased muscle tension after sport and its potential for use in physical therapy and recovery. Aim of the thesis: To provide a summary of theoretical knowledge related to the subject and to assess the impact of sauna usage on muscle tension occurred after short term maximal anaerobic excercise and compare it with passive rest. Methods: This thesis will be processed at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport on 6 individuals, who will be randomly divided into two equally large groups. The first three-person group will be a research one, the second three-member group will be the control group. Afterwards they will be subjected to a Wingate stress test. Název práce: Reologie kolenního kloubu před a po aplikaci totální endoprotézy. Title: Rheology of the knee joint before and after application total replacement knee. Cíl práce: pomocí měření na bioreometru (reometru) porovnat změny v reologii kolenního kloubu před a po aplikaci totální endoprotézy. Shrnout anatomii, kineziologii, biomechaniku kolenního kloubu a totální náhrady, informovat o vývoji a současných možnostech v náhradách kolenních kloubů, posoudit vhodnost léčby artrózy totální náhradou. Metoda: Při zpracování teoretických poznatků byly využity publikace různých autorů. V experimentální části práce byly využity výsledky vlastního měření na přístroji zvaném reometr. Naměřené hodnoty byly zpracovány a dále porovnávány. Práce je zaměřena na sledování závislosti mechanické impedance na úhlu flexe a extenze (hysterézní křivky) před a po aplikaci totální náhrady kolenního kloubu. Výsledky: Poukazují na možnost detekce změn reologických vlastností kolenního kloubu po implantaci totální endoprotézy. Analgetic Effect of Pulsed Magnetic Field and Non-Invasive Laser Therapy in Patients with Chronic Low Back Pain

Objective: The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the analgesic effect of two methods of physical therapy (magnetic therapy, laser therapy) in patients with chronic low back pain various etiologies. I would also like to know whether it is more beneficial for the patient application of physics treatment in the morning or evening, and whether the analgesic effect of these treatments physical therapy depends on the layer of subcutaneous fat and personality type of the patient. Method: Eighteen patients with chronic low back pain were randomly divided into 4 groups (morning / evening magnetic, morning / evening laser). After 3 weeks they 10x been applied magnetic or laser. Application procedures took place between 7.00 to 10.00 o'clock on the morning group and between 16.00 to 19.00 o'clock on the evening of the group. Before starting the study, patients signed informed consent, completed Questionnaire patient questionnaire Oswestry Low Back Pain, was with them, a test according to Petrie and measured layer of skin fold at the site of pain. During the study, probands filled value VAS-I at regular intervals. After completion of therapy, patients again completed a questionnaire Oswestry Low Back Pain. SOUHRN: Název: Explozivní expirace při kašli a její biomechanická charakteristika Title of Work: Explosive Cough Expiration and its Biomechanical Aspects Cíle práce: Cílem práce je podat ucelenou informaci o kašli a jeho vlivu na lidský organismus, analyzovat možnosti výzkumu kašle za použití různých měřících technik a jejich aplikace pro další výzkum. Metoda: V teoretické části byly shrnuty dostupné informace o kašli ve formě utříděné komentované rešerše. V praktické části byl zkoumán kašel formou případové studie různými měřícími přístroji. Byla provedena analýza deformačních charakteristik hrudníku, průtokové mechaniky kašle a záznamu celotělových vibrací způsobených kašlem. Výsledky: Práce přinesla zajímavý pohled na možnosti detekce kašle za použití různých měřících technik. Poukázala na úskalí jednotlivých metod a nastínila další možnosti vědeckého výzkum kašle.
