Steelworking by selected Czech and British artists from 1990 to the present
Štěpánová, Adéla ; Klimešová, Marie (advisor) ; Štefková, Zuzana (referee)
The clean shiny surfaces that steel allows can be used to create art. These are not necessarily separate sculptures, but also experimental metallurgical fire painting on steel surfaces. Bachelor thesis introduces stainless steel objects of leading British sculptors, Anthony Caro, Tony Cragg or Anish Kapoor. Even in the Czech Republic, work with this alloy is not neglected. The work focuses on large sculptures of Aleš Veselý, steel combined with glass in the creation of Marian Karel and stainless steel sculptures of Michal Gabriel. The speech then turns to metal paintings by Ladislav Vlna, which he creates by heating steel plates. I am interested in the relationship between Czech and foreign artists working with this alloy. I ask if it is possible to create quality art from this metal, which is most often used in industrial production. Keywords steel, stainless steel, sculptures, metallurgical painting, Anthony Caro, Anish Kapoor, Tony Cragg, Michal Gabriel, Marian Karel, Aleš Veselý, Ladislav Vlna

ŠTĚPÁNOVÁ, Adéla
This diploma thesis deals with French textbooks used at Czech secondary schools in the era of the years 1948-1989. The diploma thesis is composed of two parts the theoretical and the practical part. The theoretical part consists in a description of the Czech educational environment, mainly the development of the Czech education system with regard to the most significant education reforms which shaped the system. The description is centred on Gymnázium, which is a specific type of secondary school where the French language was taught. The theoretical part also deals with the question of general theory of textbooks and the chosen foreign language teaching methods. The practical part concerns the analysis of 5 chosen French textbooks intended for the first class of secondary schools. The selection was made with regard to the education reforms mentioned in the theoretical part.
The Problem of Slavery and Race in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
ŠTĚPÁNOVÁ, Adéla
The thesis deals with the problem of race and slavery in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain. It shows Huck's ambivalent attitude towards the problem of slavery. It examines his struggle to free himself from the conventions and racial prejudice of the then society, by which he has been formed. Another important part of the thesis contains an indepth analysis of Jim as a literary character. In this section Jim is presented not as a caricature coming from the minstrel tradition but as a complex character.
