Split Screen

Using of more than one picture on screen opens new possibilities of film editing. I was suprised, that there is no literature attended on split screen technology in Czech language. So I decided to give consideration to the problem of split screen at my Batchelor theoretical work. I would like to focus on specification of using this technique and some crags of it. I built some examples of practical situations and I indicate differences between classical and split screen editing on them. I propose concept of split screen film making from preparing to post production as well.

Early Video Art:

The aim of my thesis is to describe the early period of video art, which creates a relationship between an artist and video technology on the one hand and on the other hand establishes a specific artistic expression through this kind of technology. Examples of early conceptual video works of Joan Jonas, Bruce Naumann, Shigeko Kubota, Steve Partridge and Charlemagne Palestine demonstrate different attitudes and techniques of video art practice. I have focused on the relationship between the languageof video and its technological background. Using the work based on the real time imagining. I have suggested that technology determinates the time and space of the video piece. I have also considered the influence of art movements of 60´s and 70´s and their impact on the language of videoart
