in English Selected issues of legal and social status of executioners in the Bohemian lands from the 16th to the middle of the 19th century from a legal historical perspective The aim of this thesis is to comprehensively elaborate the legal and social situation of executioners and knackers in the Bohemian lands from the 16th to the middle of the 19th century. In particular, the specific rules and restrictions that applied to executioners, based on the legal regulations and decisions of the public authorities, as well as on the general social situation and the attitude of individual persons. The thesis also describes some myths and prejudices concerning executioners and compares them with reality. An important aspect is the concept of honour and its influence on everyday life, as well as the impact of its reduction. Also important are the exceptions to the various rules and the reasons or possible reasons for those exceptions. The thesis achieves these goals mainly by the method of deduction and induction using historical sources and legal regulations. It also compares the legal regulations with public authorities decisions and real situations. This reveals which norms were followed and which were rather overcome by the social aspects of dishonour.
